  • Patent number: 5551437
Abstract: A sensor with a first, second and third force pick-up includes a piece of foil made of piezoelectric material which serves all three pick-ups and carries a number of electrodes. The second and third pick-up are located one on either side of the first pick-up and are characterized by a smaller pick-up surface than the first one. For measuring blood pressure the sensor is pressed against a part of a patient's body such that the first force pick-up, i.e., the one in the middle, is at the shortest possible distance from a large artery. During measurement the absolute values of the changes in the measurement values of the three force pick-ups, which are due to the pulsating blood stream, are added. On the other hand the changes in the measurement values caused by interfering forces will cancel each other out.

  • Patent number: 4288793
Abstract: An apparatus containing a cylinder with a piston displaceably guided therein and positionally adjustable by a hydraulic fluid medium. A capacitive measuring transducer is arranged in the cylinder. The measuring transducer comprises a tube attached at the piston and arranged in a longitudinal opening thereof. The tube is electrically conductively connected with the cylinder. Apart from the tube, the measuring transducer further comprises a rod protruding into the tube and insulatingly secured at the cylinder. This rod is connected by means of an electrical bushing or lead with the input of an electronic unit attached externally at the cylinder. The electronic unit comprises an oscillator having a connection electrically coupled with the cylinder and a connection coupled with the non-inverting input of a capacitive feedback differential amplifier. The inverting input of the differential amplifier is electrically connected with the rod which is secured so as to be electrically insulated at the cylinder.

  • Patent number: 4211296
Abstract: PCT No. PCT/CH78/00011 Sec. 371 Date Apr. 5, 1979 Sec. 102(e) Date Mar. 12, 1979 PCT Filed Aug. 4, 1978 PCT Pub. No. WO 79/00136 PCT Pub. Date Mar. 22, 1979. A scale, which is particularly intended for weighing humans, comprises a pedestal and a table. The pedestal is provided with upwardly extending and the table with downwardly extending holders, which are arranged at the region of the table edge and essentially uniformly distributed over the table circumference. In each case there alternately follows a holder at the pedestal a holder of the table. The holders are provided at their free ends with a notch which forms a holding location for an electrical conductor. The conductor consists of an electrically elongatable wire and extends in a zig-zag configuration from one holder to the other. Both ends of the conductor are connected with an electronic measuring unit, which contains means for detecting the electrical resistance of the conductor.
