  • Patent number: 11479033
Abstract: A device for printing on hollow bodies comprises a mandrel wheel and a segment wheel. The mandrel wheel has its own motor separate from a motor of the segment wheel. In association with the segment wheel, along a circumferential line thereof, a plurality of plate cylinders are positioned or at least are positionable radially against this segment wheel. An inking unit is associated with each plate cylinder. Each plate cylinder, and a roller arranged in the associated inking unit, are each driven in rotation independently by a motor. The motor of the mandrel wheel and the motor of the segment wheel and the motor of the relevant plate cylinder and the motor of the roller arranged in the associated inking unit are connected to one another for data exchange by a common data bus. The relevant motors each have their own drive controller and their own power part connected to the data bus. Control data for the relevant motors, transported via the data bus, form a virtual guide axis.

  • Patent number: 11207895
Abstract: A method is provided for printing a surface of a non-absorbent substrate with an ink to be applied by an inkjet printing device. An ink that contains water as a solvent is used for printing the substrate. An ink having a water content of at least 70% is used. The substrate to be printed is supported by a workpiece support and is moved relative to the inkjet printing device. During this relative movement, ink is applied by the inkjet printing device to the surface of the substrate to be printed. The ink that is applied to the surface of the substrate is heated to a temperature that is above the temperature of the air surrounding the substrate and that is below the boiling point of the solvent contained in the ink. Above a liquid phase of the ink, a vapor layer, consisting of the solvent that is contained in the ink, is formed. The vapor layer that is formed above the liquid phase of the ink is transported away by an air flow emitted by at least one blower nozzle unit.

  • Publication number: 20200086660
Abstract: In a method for printing non-absorbent substrates with a water-based ink, ink droplets are applied to the respective substrate. The ink is applied to the relevant substrate by the use of at least one inkjet print head. Substrates are used, which have a surface tension of less than 45 mN/m in air at a temperature of 20° C. Before the application of the ink droplets, the surface tension of the substrate to be printed is increased to a value of at least 45 mN/m. The ink droplets are only afterwards applied to the respective substrate which has the increased surface tension. The applied ink droplets are dried one of by an input of heat and heat exposure, with an exposure time of less than 0.2 seconds within only a single second after the printing of the relevant substrate. The method is carried out, in particular, in a digital printing press.

  • Patent number: 6231490
Abstract: A device in an axially extending tension channel on the circumferential surface of a cylinder for fastening a flexible plate on the cylinder periphery. The leading edge of the plate is held by a leading edge fastening device in the channel, and the trailing edge is held by a trailing edge fastening device in the channel. The leading edge fastening device is a start hook-in bar which the leading edge of the plate engages. The trailing edge fastening device is formed by an end hook-in bar which is engaged by the trailing edge of the plate. The end hook-in bar projects tangentially from a tensioning shaft which is rotatable to set the tension of the plate without means to apply a clamping load. Various devices for fastening and adjusting the leading and trailing edges of the plate are disclosed.

  • Patent number: 6213282
Abstract: A method for the positionally accurate feeding of sheet-like objects to a treatment process, the objects being conveyed in succession in a lying position and being aligned during the conveyance. Rotational movement of the conveyed object is carried out to correct a skew position of the front edge of the object, a lateral movement of the object is carried out transversely, in particular at right angles, to the conveying direction for lateral alignment purposes, and an accelerated or decelerated longitudinal movement in the conveying direction is carried out for longitudinal alignment of the object, all the alignment movements being carried out on the surface of an object and without any mechanical alignment action on one or more peripheral edges of the object.

  • Patent number: 5460361
Abstract: Sheets that arrive one after another in a horizontal travel direction at a relatively high input speed at an input station are stacked by first displacing the sheets transversely downward as they pass the input station, and then braking the downwardly displaced sheets so that they move in the direction at an output speed that is substantially lower than the input speed. The sheets are then stopped so that they settle downward on a stack in the bin. Since the sheets move downward somewhat before they are braked, the trailing edge of the braked sheet is below the leading edge of the following sheet. In other words a leading edge of a sheet passing through the input station extends in the direction downstream past a trailing edge of the sheet is braked. The sheets are braked by gripping their trailing edges and retarding their downstream movement. This gripping can be effected by suction or, in the case of ferromagnetic sheets, magnetically.
