  • Patent number: 8842652
Abstract: A relay node receives from user equipments UE CQI reports which give a CQI value per radio band resource RBR, from which are aggregated across the RBRs and/or aggregated per UE across that UE's RBR values. The relay node reports an indication of the average to its controlling access node (eNodeB), either explicitly or implicitly (e.g., a gain applied to the CQI of the downlink between the relay and access nodes). The relay node also checks the UEs' buffer status (actual or predicted) and reports either periodically or based on an underflow/overflow occurrence. For periodic reports, each UE buffer experiencing the overrun/underrun is reported.

  • Patent number: 8831542
Abstract: A method, apparatus and computer program product are provided for conveying information regarding the antenna configuration and/or the transmission diversity scheme to a recipient, such as a mobile device. In particular, information regarding the antenna configuration and/or the transmission diversity scheme can be conveyed by masking, such as cyclic redundancy check masking, to provide information regarding the antenna configuration and/or the transmission diversity scheme. In this regard, a set of masks can be determined based upon hamming distances between the masks and bit diversities between the masks and where each of the masks within the set is associated with an antenna configuration and a transmission diversity scheme.

  • Patent number: 8781489
Abstract: A method includes acquiring an information from a second base station by a first base station, wherein the information is indicative for a relative timing displacement between (a) a first time pattern of a first radio resource partitioning scheme and (b) a second time pattern of a second radio resource partitioning scheme. The method further includes adapting the first time pattern of the first radio resource partitioning scheme, used by the first relay node, to the second time pattern of the second radio resource partitioning scheme, used by the second relay node, in such a manner that Time Transmission Intervals (TTIs) of the first time pattern which one used for uplink radio transmissions coincide with TTIs of the second time pattern which one used for uplink radio transmissions. A corresponding first base station is adapted for controlling and/or for carrying out the above described method.

  • Patent number: 8743770
Abstract: An apparatus processes a first data packet header element of fixed length which identifies a bearer or a logical channel, as well as a configuration parameter indicating the length of an additional second data packet header element inclusive of a length of zero. A combination of the first data packet header element and the second data packet header element identifies a bearer or a logical channel of a user equipment. Data of different user equipments is processed in a transport block data packet by utilizing a packet header of the transport block data packet including combination of the first data packet header element and the second data packet header element for each different combination of bearer or logical channel and user equipment.

  • Publication number: 20140148176
Abstract: Systems and techniques for avoiding inefficiencies resulting from failed handover attempts. A base station selects one or more mobility management entity (MME) pools for assignment to a relay nod; with the selection being performed so as to minimize or eliminate handover attempts requiring that a target device support a particular MME pool when the MME pool is not supported by the MME. A base station selects, when communicating with a relay node, a subset of the MME pools that it supports and assigns the subset to the base station. UEs served by the relay node are assigned the MME pool or MME pools assigned to the relay node. The relay node is informed of the MME pools supported by one or more neighbor nodes and, when attempting a handover to a neighbor node, attempts an X2 handover only to neighbor nodes supporting an MME pool assigned to the relay node.

  • Publication number: 20140115415
Abstract: A decoding method for decoding information content in at least one data packet, which is transmitted from a sender to a receiver via a data link. The information is represented by a bit sequence, which is transformed into a transmittable redundancy version. The information is initially transmitted for a first time in a first data packet from the sender to the receiver. The information is represented by a first redundancy version, which is self-decodable. An incorrect receipt is confirmed by sending a confirmation from the receiver to the sender. The information is retransmitted at least a second time in a second data packet from the sender to the receiver upon receipt of the confirmation, wherein, for representation of the information, a second redundancy version is used, the selection of which is performed in dependence on a coding parameter, describing whether the redundancy version is self-decodable or not.

  • Publication number: 20130322322
Abstract: A method includes receiving neighbor cell measurement results at a first relay node, the results originating from mobile device(s) located in a communications coverage area of the first relay node and that are served by the first relay node. Using the received neighbor cell measurement results, an amount of interference is estimated that is experienced by the first relay node due to operation of a second relay node. An interference report is sent that includes an indication of the estimated amount of interference from the first relay node to a network access node that serves the second relay node. The interference report is sent over a wireless link between the first relay node and the network access node that serves the first relay node, and from the network access node that serves the first relay node to the network access node that serves the second relay node.
