  • Patent number: 9565806
Abstract: For manually actuated shears with a ratchet mechanism it is proposed to provide an additional lever that circumvents the ratchet mechanism and enables the operation of the shears in a direct cut mode in which a single closing process of the handle levers also causes complete closing of the blade arrangement.
    Type: Grant
    Filed: May 3, 2010
Date of Patent: February 14, 2017
    Assignee: HUSQVARNA AB
    Inventors: Markus Maag, Bernhard Reh
  • Patent number: 9554522
Abstract: For hand-operated garden shears, in particular tree-pruning shears, with a ratchet mechanism, a ratchet lever may be disposed between a hand lever and a scissor lever and the ratchet lever may engage in different latching positions according to the ratchet mechanism. A rotatable abutment surface may be provided on the hand lever and a mating bearing surface on the lever extension, or vice versa, which, at the end of an initial closing operation with the ratchet lever in a first ratchet position, may allow a continuation of the cutting operation as a direct cut without further use of the ratchet mechanism.
    Type: Grant

  • Patent number: 9427814
Abstract: A hand-held tool (100) includes a handle (104), and a blade (102) pivotably coupled to the handle at a proximal end (105). The blade includes a plurality of apertures (116, 118, 120, 122). The hand-held tool further includes a locking member (438) is configured to detachably engage with one of the plurality of the apertures to retain the blade at an angular position relative to the handle. The locking member is provided on a bracket member coupled to the handle, the bracket member being configured to at least partially enclose the proximal end of the blade. The bracket member is spring biased such that the locking member engages with one of the plurality of the apertures to retain the blade at an angular position relative to the handle. Further, the bracket member is movable such that the locking member disengages from one of the plurality of the apertures to allow the blade to pivot relative to the handle.

  • Publication number: 20130008563
Abstract: For hand-operated garden shears, in particular tree-pruning shears, with a ratchet mechanism, it is proposed that, between a hand lever (H2) and a scissor lever (H1) between which a ratchet lever (RH) can engage in different latching positions according to the ratchet mechanism, there is also provided, in addition, a preferably rotatable abutment surface (AF) on the hand lever (H2) and a mating bearing surface (GF) on the lever extension, or vice versa, which, at the end of an initial closing operation with the ratchet lever (RH) in a first ratchet position, allow a continuation of the cutting operation as a direct cut without further use of the ratchet mechanism.
