  • Patent number: 10364890
Abstract: A double cup-shaped piston for a disc brake including an electromechanical parking brake device. An aspect of the invention permits an improved compromise between easier operability, rationalized component logistics in piston production, reduced hydraulic volume uptake in cooperation with the wheel brake periphery, and enhanced fatigue strength under maximum collective stress, in particular for heavy-duty applications of a disc brake with an electromechanical parking brake device. The problem is solved by the presence of a piston wall, which is provided, on the one hand, to sit with a free edge on a rear plate of a friction lining, and wherein the piston, on the other hand, includes an integral dome which forms an open receptacle for an actuator arranged diametrically to the edge of the piston.

  • Patent number: 7325658
Abstract: An actuating unit for an electromechanically actuatable disk brake for motor vehicles consists essentially of a drive unit (1), i.e., an electric motor (11); an actuating element (7), by means of which one (4) of two friction linings (4, 5) mounted with limited freedom of movement in a brake caliper can be brought into engagement with a brake disk (6); and a first and a second reducing gear (2, 3). An electronic controller (8), which serves to drive the electric motor (11), is assigned to the actuating unit. To realize an actuating unit of compact axial dimensions which is also optimally designed with respect to packaging, at least part of the electronic controller (8) is mounted between the electric motor (11) and the housing (25) which holds the second reducing gear (3).

  • Publication number: 20060102438
Abstract: An actuating unit is provided for an electromechanically actuated disc brake for automotive vehicles, which is disposed on a brake caliper wherein two friction linings respectively cooperating with a side face of a brake disc are arranged in a manner displaceable to a limited extent, with one of said friction linings being arranged so as to be directly movable into engagement with the brake disc by means of an actuating element, through the actuating unit, while the other friction lining is movable into engagement with the brake disc through the action of a reaction force applied by the brake caliper. The actuating unit comprises an electric motor and at least one reduction gear operatively arranged between the electric motor and the first friction lining. The reduction gear is formed as a threaded drive which, for guiding the threaded nut, includes a cylindrical guide piece that is provided with a sensor device for sensing the reaction force.

  • Patent number: 6424907
Abstract: A method and device is disclosed for determining and detecting the rollover hazard of a vehicle through a dynamic detection of variations in the center of gravity of the vehicle. During cornering of the vehicle, first condition variables, which correspond to the respective wheel load, are detected on at least two wheels. The detected first condition variables are compared to reference values representative of the respective cornering maneuver. A corresponding change in the center of gravity is calculated from the differences between the detected first condition variables and the reference values.
