  • Publication number: 20170049621
Abstract: An arrangement including an air conveying device and a suction device guiding an air flow across a site for a duration of a process. The direction of air flowing towards the surface and a tangent to the surface at the ablation site intersect at an angle. A flow velocity of the air flow is controlled. A direction of air flowing away from the surface and the tangent at the site intersect. The flow velocity is selectable, within a specified range. A flow velocity is variable.

  • Publication number: 20090227991
Abstract: A method and a corresponding system for removing material using laser radiation. The aim of the invention is to keep the laser beam cross-section free from contamination and to maintain constant ambient conditions at the site of removal during the removal process. Temperature and/or the humidity at the site of removal is maintained substantially constant a gas that is allowed to flow across the site of removal in a predetermined direction. The gas may have constant or varying temperatures, humidities and flow speeds during the removal process. The system may include a tubular channel through whose end a laser beam is incident on the surface of an object and removes material. A warm air current having a defined humidity is emitted from outlet openings of a flow channel that is linked with a conveyor via a connecting sleeve and is directed onto the site of removal.

  • Publication number: 20040236392
Abstract: The invention relates to a method and to a corresponding system for removing material using laser radiation. The aim of the invention is to keep the laser beam cross-section free from contaminations and to ensure constant climatic ambience conditions at the site of removal during the removal process. The inventive method and system is characterized in that the temperature and/or the humidity at the site of removal is maintained substantially constant by means of a gas that is allowed to flow across the site of removal in a predetermined direction. In different embodiments of the invention the gas has constant or varying temperatures, humidities and flow speeds during the removal process. The inventive system for carrying out the method is characterized by a tubular channel (1) through whose end a laser beam (3) is incident on the surface of an object (2) and removes material.

  • Publication number: 20040176718
Abstract: The invention is directed to an arrangement and processes for the suction removal of waste products such as smoke and tissue particles in the ablation of biological tissue by means of a laser beam (4), wherein the laser beam (4) is directed to the tissue through the orifice (3) of a tubular channel (2) and the waste products are sucked through the orifice (3) into the channel (2). According to the invention, it is provided in an arrangement of the type mentioned above that the inner wall (6) of the channel (2) has at least one outlet opening (8) for a gas in the vicinity of the orifice (3) and the flow of gas is directed to the center of the channel and therefore toward the laser beam (4).

  • Patent number: 6752778
Abstract: A arrangement and processes is disclosed for the suction removal of waste products such as smoke and tissue particles in the ablation of biological tissue by means of a laser beam, wherein the laser beam is directed to the tissue through the orifice of a tubular channel and the waste products are sucked through the orifice into the channel. It is provided in an arrangement of the type mentioned above that the inner wall of the channel has at least one outlet opening for a gas in the vicinity of the orifice and the flow of gas is directed to the center of the channel and therefore toward the laser beam. In this way, it is effectively achieved that the gas does not flow through between the orifice and the treatment area so as to flow over the surface of the substance, but exits already from the orifice or from the immediate vicinity of the orifice under by suitable pressure and is guided into the interior of the channel.

  • Patent number: 6682524
Abstract: A dermatological handpiece by which a laser beam is directed to the surface of a selected skin area for purposes of a cosmetic treatment and the skin area is subjected to the action of the laser beam. A method is also disclosed for the cosmetic treatment of skin surfaces during the operation of this handpiece. A handpiece of the type described above is outfitted with a device for moderating the temperature of the skin surfaces on which the laser beam acted immediately beforehand and/or is to be subjected to the action of the laser beam immediately following the temperature moderation. The handpiece is further provided with elements for influencing the laser beam cross section with respect to shape, dimensioning and intensity distribution.

  • Patent number: 6162218
Abstract: A method for photoablation in the field of dermatological medicine and to an arrangement for carrying out this method is disclosed in which the laser radiation and the outlet channel for the laser radiation are directed to a portion of skin to be treated during the treatment and the outlet opening is positioned near the treatment area. In this method, the area to be treated is subjected to a suction vacuum during treatment over its entire extent. In particular, the outlet opening communicates with a device for generating a vacuum.
