    Abstract: In the method and the arrangement for processing a data stream having data packets in a first data stream and data packets in a second data stream, which data packets each have an error identification field, the entire data stream is received by a first layer. The received entire data stream is processed in the first layer such that error identification for the data packet is carried out using an error identification field in each data packet. Information about an error identification field in a data packet in the processed entire data stream and at least a portion of the processed entire data stream is transmitted from the first layer to a second layer. The data packets in the transmitted portion of the entire data stream are associated with the first data stream and the second data stream in the second layer, using the information about the error identification field.

    Abstract: A method and a communication system are in which a first synchronization message identifying a data transmission method with the highest-level error protection that a first device is capable of executing is transmitted from said first device to a second device. In the second device, the data transmission method is detected from the first synchronization message. In case the detected data transmission method is supported by the second device, a second synchronization message is sent to the first device identifying the detected data transmission method. In the first device, the data transmission method is detected from the second synchronization message, and in case the detected data transmission method can be executed by the first device, the devices are synchronized with the data transmission method.

    Abstract: A method and corresponding apparatus first encodes digital data by grouping the data into a data segment. A particular length of the data segment is placed into check information encoded within the data segment. The encoded data segments are then transmitted from a first computer to a second computer that receives and decodes the data segments. The second computer decodes the received data segments dependent on the particular length information that was placed in the check information during encoding of the data segment. Decoding dependent upon the particular length information provides dependable synchronization and improved resistance to the introduction of errors, accordingly.

    Abstract: In an automatic repeat request procedure (ARQ), a first message is transmitted from a first computer unit to a second computer unit. Upon detection of a transmission error in the first message, a back-signalling message is coded in the second computer unit and transmitted to the first computer unit. The back-signalling message has at least one request field having the length of exactly one bit. A second message is requested by means of the request field. The second message contains additional information required for the error correction of the first message, or is the repetition of a message already transmitted or lost. The second message is transmitted to the second computer unit and decoded in the second computer unit together with the first message.

    Abstract: In a method for error recognition of a digital bit data stream transmitted by a transmitter to a receiver, a digital bit data stream coded with a convolution coder is quantized to hard bit values. The hard bit values are read in in a forward feedback-coupled inverse shift register that is inverse to the generator shift register used for the coding, and yield a first result word. In a chronologically reversed sequence, the bit data stream is read into a reverse feedback-coupled inverse shift register, which yields a second result word. The two result words are exclusive OR-combined with one another in the same time orientation to form an error syndrome. The error syndrome indicates a set of possibly faulty bit positions in the bit data stream. A transmission rate that is increased in relation to known methods results, since apart from the tail bits, which are used anyway, no additional redundancy is required for the error handling.

    Abstract: A filter insert and a method for producing the same in which the filter insert has an accordion-folded filter medium. In a first operating step, folded edges are impressed on the filter medium. Subsequently, by glue application devices which are provided with glue application nozzles, at least two glue beads are applied to the surface of the filter medium and the folding is carried out subsequently. At least one of the glue application devices is movable transversely to the transport direction of the filter medium.
