  • Patent number: 5717262
Abstract: A cooling apparatus is provided for an AC generator, particularly for a transverse-flow generator having a stator with at least one armature winding, as well as a rotor disposed opposite the armature winding. Collector rings are secured to a carrier disk attached to a rotor shaft. The collector rings have a plurality of polarized magnets and magnetizable collector elements in alternating sequence disposed therein. At least one cooling channel through which a coolant can flow is provided in the vicinity of the carrier disk. The cooling channel is separated from the carrier disk only by a channel cover which has a minimal thickness and by the air gap between the rotor and the stator.

  • Patent number: 5582262
Abstract: A drive device has the following components: a connecting device that can be connected to an electric power supply, the connecting device being connected to a power converter; a first drive aggregate in the form of an electrical drive motor which is connected to the power converter; a second drive aggregate in the form of an internal combustion engine; a generator connected to the internal combustion engine and through the power converter to the electric drive motor; and various auxiliary aggregates. The generator is continuously mechanically connected to the respective auxiliary aggregates while the internal combustion engine is optionally connectable to the auxiliary aggregates as well as to the generator. In a first mode of operation, upon operation of the electric drive motor through the external electric power supply, the generator is separated from the internal combustion engine and the generator, supplied by the power supply, is operated as an electric motor and drives the auxiliary aggregates.

  • Patent number: 4973868
Abstract: Contained in an electrical machine with a field excited by permanent magnets, on the rotor, are pole bodies that extend in ring fashion and coaxially with the rotor shaft, forming between stator pole shoes an air gap. The rotor consists of a specific sequence of permanent magnets and soft iron components which alternately are arranged side by side and jointly embedded in plastic. This gives the rotor a labile structure with a low modulus of elasticity. Apart from the present invention, the air gap could change during operation through vibrations, specifically flexural vibrations. This could lead to losses in efficiency and, most of all, considerable noise generation. A massive damping ring is provided on the free ends of the pole bodies, possibly bearing on the stator housing, which provides for a smooth running of the machine.
