  • Publication number: 20030155742
Abstract: Ski binding, in particular a touring, telemark or cross-country binding, with a front retaining element associated with the front end of the sole, a back retaining element designed to engage the front part of the sole of a ski boot or the heel of the boot and a tensioning device connecting the front and back retaining elements to one another, which allows the front and back retaining elements to be locked to the ski boot and, in particular, allows the heel of the boot to be raised from the ski while in the locked state, such that at least one spring-loaded release mechanism is associated with the tensioning device in order to release the lock between ski binding and ski boot under the action of a torque that exceeds a specified threshold magnitude and is exerted on the ski or boot about an upright axis of rotation, and/or of a force manually exerted on an essentially only positive-fit locking element.

  • Patent number: 6202326
Abstract: Sole for a cross-country, touring or Telemark ski shoe the front section of which comprises, for the purpose of binding a shoe of this type onto a cross-country, touring or Telemark binding between ball area and rear end, in particular at its rear end, means for engaging a clamping element so that the front sole section can be clamped between its front definition and the aforementioned engaging means. Into the front section of the sole is embedded a reinforcing element. The latter extends between the front definition of the sole and the engaging means for the clamping element in such a manner that the resulting tensional load vector lies above the zero line of the reinforcing element, which extends approximately parallel thereto.

  • Patent number: 6027135
Abstract: A cross-country or touring ski binding for receiving a cross-country ski shoes which includes complementary engaging elements which are insertible into engaging elements of the binding. The engaging elements establish a hinge-like connection. The engaging elements at the side of the sole include a hinge axis which extends transversely to the longitudinal direction of the ski and approximately parallel to the sole running surface. The complementary engaging elements of the binding (10) include a holding element (13) which reaches over the shoe hinge axis and forms with the latter a hinge joint. The holding element (13) is movable from a locked position into a released position and vice versa by means of an operating lever (15) which is pivotably mounted on the binding. A flexor (16) operates between the front end of the sole and the ski and binding (10) and exerts a return force onto the shoe if it is lifted with the heel rising from the top of the ski.

Abstract: Arrangement of a cross-country, particularly skating binding (15) and a shoe (16) adapted thereto, which has on its forward sole (12) complementary engagement members introducible into engagement members of the binding in order to produce a joint-like connection, the engagement members on the sole comprising a bracket (11) extending transversely to the longitudinal direction of the sole and roughly parallel to the tread surface of the sole and located off-set relative to the forward sole end, and the complementary engagement members on the binding comprising a retaining hook engaging over the bracket (11), particularly from behind, which is movable from a closed position into a release position and vice-versa. The retainer hook (6) is movable out of the closed position into the release position by means of an actuating device (3, 4) coupled therewith, against the action of a member, particularly a resilient member (5) initially resiliently tensioning it in a forward direction.

  • Patent number: 5893576
Abstract: A cross-country ski binding, especially a hiking ski binding which includes a toe iron adapted for mounting on a ski top and having cheeks and sole catches for the front part of a ski boot sole. A heel unit has a cable with end tension springs. Corresponding side cable units connect the tension springs to the toe unit. Each cable unit includes a side cable with a forward end releasaby connected to the toe iron unit. A close wound coil spring is slidable on the side cable between the forward end and a rear stop member. A threaded connecting member has an internal thread and is threaded on the coil spring. The connecting member has an external threaded into the forward end of the tension spring. The threaded position on the sliding closely wounds coil spring with its movement on the cable.

  • Patent number: 5803480
Abstract: Ski-binding arrangement to fix a ski boot to a ski, in particular a touring or cross-country ski, with a latch mechanism to fix the front end of the ski boot to the ski in such a way that the metatarsus and heel can be raised freely from the upper surface of the ski. The latch mechanism can be attached to a holding plate (10). The holding plate (10) in turn is so disposed that it can swing out to the sides about an axis perpendicular to the surface of the ski against the action of spring-braced elements (12) of a locking mechanism (11), the lateral swinging movement being so extensive that the plate is completely freed from the ski. The holding plate (10) is supported by way of its extreme front end (13) on a retaining part (14) mounted on the upper surface (19) of the ski, the plate (10) being so disposed that it can swing sideways about said front end. The locking mechanism (11) is associated with the back end of the holding plate (10).

  • Patent number: 5499838
Abstract: A cross-country ski binding, especially a hiking ski binding which includes a toe iron (10) adapted for mounting on a ski top and having cheeks (11) and sole catches (12) for accommodating and supporting the front part of the sole of a ski booth in sideways, forwards and upwards directions. A tension cable (14) is adapted to be passed about the heel of the boot and includes a tensioning mechanism (13) whereby the ski boot may be fixed to the toe iron (10) such that during cross-country skiing or ski hiking, the heel of the boot and the heel of the skier may be raised from the ski top. The tension cable (14) also co-operates with a mechanism (15) for varying the effective cable length. A portion of the tension cable (14) includes a tension spring (16, 17). A tightening lever (19) bearing against the sole of the boot is pivotally mounted on the portion (18) of the tension cable (14) which is intended to be passed about the heel of the boot.

  • Patent number: 5338053
Abstract: A binding for cross-country or touring skis for use in combination with ski boots engagement elements for receiving complementary engagement elements provided on the boots. The engagement elements of the binding are disposed within a binding housing (14) establishing a pivot-type connection. A pivot (18) extends crosswise to the longitudinal extension of the boot. The engagement elements of the binding include a retaining hook (26) engaging behind the pivot (18), cooperating to constitute a hinge joint. The hook is movable between a closing position and a releasing position, and a flexor (80) is provided on the binding for resiliently returning the boot from a raised position to a position parallel to the ski. The sole of the boot includes a pivot (18) which is supported on the side of the binding against a separate supporting bearing made of metal or the like.

  • Patent number: 5190310
Abstract: A cross-country ski binding (1) for cross-country ski shoes (2) which includes a sole front end (9) having a member which complements and engages a member of the binding (1). A pivot axis member (8) extends transversely to the longitudinal direction of the shoe and approximately parallel with the outsole surface and the binding members includes a retaining hook (3) which partially encompass the pivot axis member (8) and defines a hinge therewith. The retaining hook is adapted to move between a closed position and a release position. An elastically deformable element (10) engages the front of the ski shoe for elastically restoring the shoe (2) from an upward pivotal position to a position approximately parallel with the ski. The retaining hook (3) is maintained in the release position by a locking member (4) which is actuated by stepping the shoe into the binding, and particularly the sole-integrated pivot axis (8) which engages and pivots the locking member to the unlocking position.

  • Patent number: 5088757
Abstract: A lateral guide device for a ski boot is disclosed which may be joined by its front end to a binding (13) with a housing (19). The bonding is fastened onto the ski such that the boot heel may be tilted upwardly relative to the ski. The device includes at least one longitudinal guide rib unit (12) cooperating with a complementary longitudinal groove at the underside of the sole of the ski boot so as to ensure a lateral guidance of the ski boot when the latter is rolled from an upwardly tilted position into a position approximately parallel to the ski. For the purpose of adaptation of the device to different shoe sizes and for facilitated assembly, the longitudinal guide rib unit (12) may be connected, with positive locking action, either directly to the binding (13) or the binding housing (19), respectively, or through a rear section (11) to a front section (10) of the longitudinal guide rib unit (12), which is preferably joined to the binding (13).
