  • Patent number: 5104811
Abstract: On a carrier layer there are arranged several test layers which are at least partly in fluid contact with one another, enabling liquid exchange. On the carrier layer are arranged an application zone, a detection zone for the production of a detectable signal characteristic of the analytical determination, which contains at least one said test layer which is a reaction layer, and an absorption zone with a test layer which is an absorptive layer of an absorbent material, wherein the reaction layer and absorption zone are positioned next to each other. Between the application and the absorption zone is a capillary-active transport path on the carrier layer which connects the application zone and the absorption zone. The reaction layer is arranged parallel to the transport path between the application zone and the absorption zone in such a manner that it is in liquid contact with a liquid transported in the transport path.

  • Patent number: 4638023
Abstract: The present invention provides a process for the production of reagent films in which an aqueous synthetic resin dispersion which contains the usual adjuvants and reagents is coated on to a solid substrate or on to a thin fabric in a thin layer and dried, wherein to the crude film mass used for the coating there are added 0.5 to 5% by weight of a scleroprotein hydrolysate with a molecular weight of from 5000 to 50,000 and 0.5 to 10% by weight of a higher alcohol containing 5 to 10 carbon atoms.

  • Patent number: 4587099
Abstract: A test strip for analyzing a liquid sample has a carrier or handle, a slowly-absorbent layer fixed thereupon which slowly sucks up the liquid sample, a liquid impermeable layer fixer thereover, an absorbent reagent layer fixed thereover, and a mesh covering these, which mesh layer is fixed next to the slowly-absorbent layer on to the carrier. The mesh and layer portions of the test strip can thus be briefly immersed in the liquid sample with the carrier and withdrawn for observing the analyzing reaction of the reagent and liquid sample absorbed into the absorbent reagent layer through the mesh, the mesh serving to conduct excess liquid sample from the adjacent surface of the absorbent reagent layer to the still absorbent slowly-absorbent layer so that the excess liquid sample does not interfere with the observation of the reaction.

  • Patent number: 4492754
Abstract: Composition for the detection of(a) hydrogen peroxide or hydrogen peroxide forming substrates or(b) peroxidases or peroxidatively reacting substances which composition comprises a substrate capable of coupling and an oxidizable substance known to undergo the Trinder reaction, and(a) a peroxidase or(b) hydrogen peroxidewherein the substrate capable of coupling is a compound of the formula ##STR1## in which n and m are individually selected from whole numbers of 1 to 4,X and Y, which can be the same or different represent a valence bond or a phenylene radical,R.sub.1 and R.sub.2 are individually selected from carboxyl or sulfonic acid groups and one of R.sub.1 and R.sub.2 can also be hydrogen or lower alkyl, andR.sub.3 and R.sub.4 are individually selected from hydrogen and alkyl radicals of up to 6 carbon atoms;and/or a salt of such compound.

  • Patent number: 4439527
Abstract: Means and method for the detection of hydrogen peroxide or of hydrogen peroxide-forming substrates, consisting of 4-aminoantipyrine and an aromatic amine or phenol and a neutral to weakly acid buffer as well as other additives and reagents which form H.sub.2 O.sub.2 with the substrate and which are known for use in Trinder's reaction, the 4-aminoantipyrine, in the immiscible state before use, being separate from the acid buffer and from the other reagents if any, and being mixed with a small amount of an alkaline buffer having a pH of 8.5 to 14.0, the two compositions being combined, in a quantity ratio to one another that is suitable for the detection test, in a single package or in a single-use unit.
