  • Patent number: 3997646
Abstract: An improved process for the production of polyamide mouldings by activated, anionic polymerisation of lactams having at least five ring members by means of screw injection-moulding machines and screw extruders, the improvement comprises polymerising the lactam melt containing an activator and a catalyst partially in a stirrer unit up to a relative viscosity of at least 1.4 measured at 25.degree. C on a 1% by weight solution of the polyamide in cresol.
    Type: Grant
    Filed: May 21, 1974
Date of Patent: December 14, 1976
    Assignee: Bayer Aktiengesellschaft
Inventors: Kurt Schneider, Helmut Vogel, Wolfgang Meyer, Bert Brassat
  • Patent number: 3989677
Abstract: An improved process for the production of polyamides of low extract content by the activated anionic polymerisation of at least one lactam containing at least 5 ring members at temperatures above the melting point of the polyamide in a continuously working polymerisation apparatus, optionally followed directly by shaping, the improvement comprises treating the polyamide melt obtained by polymerising said lactam in said polymerisation apparatus with water or steam and subsequently freeing it from volatile constituents by evaporation before the polyamide melt is discharged into the open.
    Type: Grant
    Filed: November 15, 1974
Date of Patent: November 2, 1976
    Assignee: Bayer Aktiengesellschaft
    Inventors: Bert Brassat, Rolf Brockmann
