Patent number: 5174176Abstract: A reversible ratchet wrench has a housing containing a ratchet wheel and a reversing pawl unit which includes two pawls respectively connected by leaf springs to a pivotally mounted reversing cam, all in a unitary one-piece construction. The reversing pawl unit is pivotally movable by a reversing lever between first and second conditions, wherein the two pawls respectively engage the ratchet wheel for accommodating rotation thereof in opposite directions. The reversing lever has a cam follower which cammingly engages a cam surface on the housing to resiliently hold the reversing lever in the selected one of its two positions.Type: GrantFiled: December 9, 1991Date of Patent: December 29, 1992Assignee: Snap-on Tools CorporationInventor: Bert Krivec

Patent number: 5157994Abstract: A reversible ratchet wrench has a housing containing a ratchet wheel and a pawl selectively pivotal between first and second conditions, respectively engageable with the ratchet wheel for accommodating rotation thereof in opposite directions, with the pawl undergoing a ratcheting movement in response to rotation of the ratchet wheel. The pawl is biased by either a torsion band or an over-center leaf spring to the selected condition. A reversing member has a lever arm pivotally movable between first and second positions to pivot the pawl. The pawl and the reversing member respectively have first and second drive portions thereon which respectively form diametrically opposed sectors of a common cylinder, each less than 180.degree.Type: GrantFiled: December 13, 1991Date of Patent: October 27, 1992Assignee: Snap-On Tools CorporationInventor: Bert Krivec

Patent number: 4970922Abstract: A rotatable driving tool for imparting torque to a driven member, such as a threaded fastener having an axial recess in the head thereof, comprises a circularly cylindrical body with a plurality of substantially circularly helical driving portions projecting laterally therefrom and equiangularly spaced about the cylindrical axis, each of the driving portions having a small helix angle, preferably between one and three degress. The driving portions mate with lobes of the fastener recess but are slightly inclined with respect thereto to provide a wedge fit to retain the fastener in engagement with the tool body.Type: GrantFiled: March 1, 1990Date of Patent: November 20, 1990Assignee: Snap-on Tools corporationInventor: Bert Krivec

Patent number: 4643010Abstract: A two movement time lock for bank vault doors and the like including a lock case for enclosing the timer units and a cover having transparent portions through which the dials of the timer units can be viewed. A pivoted integral locking lever of generally inverted distorted "T" shaped configuration has a pair of oppositely extending foot formations to be engaged and moved by trip formations of the timer units and a spring biased lever is interlinked with the locking lever above the pivot for normally positioning the locking lever at a cocked position when timer unit dials are displaced from the zero position.Type: GrantFiled: March 25, 1985Date of Patent: February 17, 1987Assignee: Sargent & Greenleaf, Inc.Inventors: Bert Krivec, Gary R. Murphree, Walter R. Evans
-
Patent number: 4631940Abstract: A selectively illuminated digit display combination lock dial assembly to be coupled to the spindle of a combination lock for dialing a lock opening combination of numbers, including a rotatable dial member to dial the numbers of the combination, a dial backup case to be mounted on a security container having a coupling member journaled therein connected with the spindle and with the dial member. The backup case having a sight passage and digit numeric generating and display device located outwardly of the dial member periphery to generate and visually display numbers signifying the dial member angular positions.Type: GrantFiled: March 29, 1985Date of Patent: December 30, 1986Assignee: Sargent & Greenleaf, Inc.Inventors: Bert Krivec, Gary R. Murphree

Patent number: 4359385Abstract: The chain-carried pawls which are to shift the plates on the rails of a filter press in successive order are provided with roller weights which ride on upper and lower tracks and provide the improved shifting of the plates and support of the lower runs of the chains.Type: GrantFiled: July 6, 1981Date of Patent: November 16, 1982Assignee: Envirex Inc.Inventor: Bert Krivec

Patent number: 4305821Abstract: A hinged doctor blade is biased to its operative position respecting the belt of a belt conveyor. Shoes at each end of the blade ride on the belt ahead of the blade respecting belt travel and are positioned and connected to the blade so that the forward clips of the belt joint lifts the blade upon the first approach of either end of the joint and the other end is effective to hold the doctor blade in its raised position until the forward portion of the seam is beneath the blade and the blade can safely ride over the seam and then resume its operative position respecting the filter belt. Adjustment means are provided so that the positions of the shoes relative to the doctor blade may be set as required by the length of the seam having reference to the direction of belt travel.Type: GrantFiled: December 11, 1980Date of Patent: December 15, 1981Assignee: Envirex Inc.Inventors: Robert E. Crandall, Bert Krivec

Patent number: 4168771Abstract: A free wheeling tire having the ability to resist increased rotational speed under load is comprised of a hub portion, rim portion, and a multiplicity of flexure members defining voids extending continuously from one side of the tire to another. Deleterious heat generated during operation is successfully dissipated through the increased surface area provided by the voids and by the nature of geometrical element configuration. The tires are placed in a gravity roller conveyor in arrays where each array may have different speed control characteristics permitting variations in speeds of objects as they move from one array to another.Type: GrantFiled: October 7, 1977Date of Patent: September 25, 1979Assignee: Rexnord Inc.Inventor: Bert Krivec

Patent number: 4059180Abstract: An improved mounting means for the rollers of a roller conveyor apparatus comprising a tubular bushing having a body portion which extends through the polygonal-shaped holes in the adjacent support structure into the polygonal-shaped shaft opening or bore of a bearing assembly sitted within the end of a roller and a tubular pin having a shaft portion extending through the bushing. The bushing has longitudinal slots running from the remote end along the body portion forming a plurality of resilient members and internal radially extending knobs on the resilient members. The circumference of the bushing is sufficiently large within the bearing shaft opening to prevent rotational motion of the contacting element in the bearing assembly. The pin has a complimentary groove circumferentially disposed about the shank portion near the remote end which causes the knobs and therefore resilient members to expand outwardly against the bearing assembly when the pin is fully inserted into the bushing.Type: GrantFiled: December 2, 1976Date of Patent: November 22, 1977Assignee: Rexnord Inc.Inventors: Bert Krivec, Elwood B. Brown, Warren S. Raynor

The transfer roller assemblies are mounted in planar array, and means are provided for controlling the direction of rotation of the cylindrical rollers and stub rollers in selected subsets of the planar array so as to impart rotary and/or translational motion to an object positioned on the array. Two alternative embodiments are disclosed.Type: GrantFiled: September 12, 1975Date of Patent: February 22, 1977Assignee: Rexnord Inc.Inventor: Bert Krivec
