  • Patent number: 5653001
Abstract: A frictional lock hinge for pivotally connecting a base and a lid of a container permits the lid to easily toggle between a locked and an unlocked state with respect to the base. The hinge includes a handle. A first hinge member is positioned between arms of the handle and has two eyed ears, one being threaded. A second hinge member has an eye positioned between the eyed ears of the first hinge member. The frictional lock hinge also includes a pin, whose second end is threaded and passes through openings in the arms of the handle, the eyed ears of the first hinge member and the eye of the second hinge member. The second end of the pin also threads into the threaded eyed ear of the first hinge member. Furthermore, a stop is disposed on the first end of the pin. The stop has a diameter greater than the diameter of the second end of the pin. Additionally, a lock nut is threaded on the second end of the pin.

  • Patent number: 5195504
Abstract: An improved affordable, rugged, but light-weight box-oven-type solar cooker with the ability to overcome the recognized prior art limitations, such as: difficulty in achieving cooking temperatures in morning, evening and winter; restriction in reflector adjustment; heat loss through glazier cover; the inability to produce high temperatures in a short period of time and, more importantly, the inability of heat storage to continue cooking after sundown. The cooker assembly comprises a revolutionary round or hemispherical shaped cooking chamber (16) allowing the maximum amount of sunlight to cover its inner surface, creating a higher and more even heat distribution for cooking; an unhinged reflector frame (30) is pivotally mounted by arms (38R; 38L) to the housing (10) and can adjust through a 360.degree. angle. With this unlimited mobility the sun's rays can be focused into the cooking chamber (16) substantially at any angle of the sun's position regardless of time of day, or geographic location.

  • Patent number: 3946438
Abstract: A magnetic card transport comprising the combination of a frame having curved guide path means for a card to insure effective but minimal reading pressure of card against a magnetic head (transducer) resulting only from flexure of the card by rigidly mounting the head on the convex or rear side of the frame, and novel card translating means including a self-pivoting drive shaft with a driven roller at one end and a curved card-driving roller at center carried by a bracket pivotally mounted on the frame for movements between inoperative and operative positions and having a pivotal half-bearing to insure angular movement of the shaft axis in response to forward or reverse rotation of the driven roller to maintain proper engagement of the card with the frame, and a stop to limit manual card insertion to a start position and movable to inoperative position as the shaft-supporting bracket is swung to its operative position to effect rotation of the driven roller.
