  • Patent number: 6018165
Abstract: An optoelectronic sensor device for detecting precipitation on an outer surface (41) of a transparent pane (4) of a motor vehicle includes a beam guide element (1) having front and rear opposed parallel surfaces (2, 7) and first and second lateral opposed faces (5, 6). The front surface (2) is coupled to an inner surface (42) of a transparent pane (4) of a motor vehicle. Each of the lateral faces (5, 6) has a reflection region (52, 62). The rear surface (7) has first and second cut-out portions (8, 81) extending therefrom toward the front surface (2). Each of the cut-out portions (8, 81) has a reflective region (11). A beam transmitter (13) is disposed adjacent the rear surface (7) to transmit an infrared beam to the reflective region (11) of the first cut-out portion (8). The reflective region (11) of the first cut-out portion (8) reflects a beam transmitted from the beam transmitter (13) to the reflection region (52) of the first lateral face (5) which reflects the beam to the transparent pane (4).

  • Patent number: 5818600
Abstract: An optoelectronic sensor device for the detection of the degree of wetting of a transparent vehicle screen with precipitation, includes a beam guide with two opposing parallel surfaces and two surfaces which lie opposite to one another and which are angled in opposing fashion through which beams enter and exit, one of the parallel surfaces being coupled to the vehicle screen in an optical fashion, the beam entry surface cooperating with an optical transmitter and the exit surface cooperating with an optical receiver. The device limits the wavelength of rays which exit from the beam guide to the operating range of the beam transmitter. Two filters (4) are incorporated in the beam path whose pass ranges overlap within a narrow frequency band.

  • Patent number: 5639393
Abstract: An optoelectronic sensor device which has a beam transmitter/beam receiver arrangement associated with a beam guide element. The arrangement is disposed together with a heating device in a common housing. In order to install the heating device in a convenient manner in the surrounding area of the sensor device, the heating device consists of at least one heat conducting plate fixed to a support part, which is allocated with its substantial main areas to the beam guide element and is connected by at least one connection arm to the electrical printed circuit board. The heating device includes at least one heating element, which is disposed in the proximity of a connection arm directly on the electrical printed circuit board. For communicating the necessary heat into the heat conducting plate, the printed circuit board is connected at least in a material-locking manner to an associated connection arm.

  • Patent number: 5543923
Abstract: A sensor device is proposed for detecting the degree of wetting of a transparent pane by precipitation. The sensor device is provided with a beam guide element, which is affixed to the pane with the aid of an optical adhesive, and is acted upon by heat by a heating apparatus. A beam transmitter and a beam receiver are associated each via a lens. Such a sensor device solves the technical problem of guaranteeing optimum conditions for the transfer of heat to the beam guide element. The beam guide element has, in the central region of its rear surface remote from the pane, a recess lying outside of the beam paths. The recess contains a heating apparatus associated via a coupling medium with the beam guide element.

  • Patent number: 5323637
Abstract: A moisture sensor which registers the amount of moisture from tear-shaped precipitation, particularly on a windshield. The device includes a beam director which is mounted on the windshield by an optical adhesive. The beam director has a beam transmitter on one side and a beam receptor on the other. To ensure an optically perfect attachment of the beam director as an integrated unit to the windshield, there is a parallel relationship between the windshield and the facing surface of the beam director. An optical adhesive is applied to the gap between the windshield and the beam director, and is confined to a particular area.
