  • Patent number: 4775135
Abstract: A machine tool employs a workpiece guidance system comprising a pair of guide assemblies each including a stop member movable along one of the X and Y axes and a clamping element for clamping the workpiece in the stop member for movement therewith. The clamping element is movable independently of its associated stop member as well as therewith, and one stop member will provide a guide surface for the workpiece as it is moved past it by the other guide assembly. In one embodiment, the clamping element is a claw or clamp in a fixed position on the stop member and which is automatically actuable to clamp the workpiece or to release the workpiece for guided movement thereby. In another, the clamp is slidably supported in the stop member for movement relative to a base element to provide clamped guiding movement for the workpiece and also can be locked in a position to fix the workpiece therefor.

  • Patent number: 4619448
Abstract: A machine tool employs a workpiece guidance system comprising a pair of guide assemblies each including a first stop member movable along one of the X and Y axes and a clamping element a second stop member for clamping the workpiece against the first stop member for movement therewith. The second stop member element is movable independently of its associated first stop member as well as therewith, and each stop member will provide a guide surface for the workpiece as it is moved past it by the other guide assembly. The machine tool also includes a computer system control for operating the motors which drive the guide assemblies.

  • Patent number: 4571810
Abstract: A machine tool installation enables the production of a variety of parts from a workpiece, and sorting of the parts so produced, on a fully automated basis. The machine tool has a numerical control system by which its cutting tool is caused to act upon the workpiece to selectively produce any of a number of different parts. The same control system is concurrently utilized to operate a sorting unit to position the designated one of several receptacles provided thereon to a point adjacent a common discharge location from the machine tool. The different parts produced are thereby segregated into substantially homogenous batches within the several receptacles provided.

  • Patent number: 4524661
Abstract: A bottom die provided with a cutting edge which is closed within itself used with stamping machines having a seat for the bottom die comprises a die body made up of at least two separate body parts adapted to be assembled together and forming an annular exterior die part with an internal die cutting edge. The body parts are separable along a parting line which is transverse to the die cutting edge. The body parts are held together by suitable means such as clamping screws.

  • Patent number: 4462147
Abstract: There is disclosed a method and apparatus for the simultaneous machining of a stack of plate-like workpieces wherein the individual workpieces of the stack are initially assembled into a stack which is held in a manner which will not interfere with the subsequent machining operations by use of rivets or the like. The plate-like workpieces are mounted in the stack upon a support plate, and the machining operations are preferably so conducted as to penetrate through the lower most member of the stack and into the upper portion of the support plate. The machine tool is preferably one in which a series of stations for drilling, riveting, machining and then drilling out the rivets is provided. The tool may include means for automatically and precisely moving the stack between the several work stations.

  • Patent number: 4345744
Abstract: A machine is disclosed for working or machining flat workpieces which comprises, a frame, a flame cutter connected to the frame for directing a cutting flame or jet to one side of a workpiece which penetrates the workpiece, a mechanism for moving the workpiece past the jet and a cooling unit for receiving the flame after it has penetrated the workpiece. The cooling equipment includes an opening space for receiving the flame and a device for circulating coolant into the opening space so that the coolant can cool the flame and absorb particles, vapors and gases generated by the cutting operation.

  • Patent number: 4274801
Abstract: A machine tool construction, comprises, a support frame which has a bar portion extending in one direction, for example, a longitudinal direction, with a gear rack defined thereon, and with a carrier guide movable along said bar portion and having a drive motor for its movement with a pinion which is engaged on the rack to effect the motion. A work carrier is similarly mounted in the carrier guide for movement at right angles to the axis of the bar and it is driven by a separate drive motor driving through a pinion and a rack defined on the work carrier. At least one work holder is mounted for slidable movement along the work carrier and it may be locked to the work carrier against movement and transported by movement of the work carrier or it may be released from the work carrier. In addition, a locking device is provided for locking the work carrier in a fixed position and it may be carried either by the frame of the machine itself or by the carrier guide.
