  • Publication number: 20180252303
Abstract: A device for the transmission of power in motor vehicles. Power is transmitted in a smoother and more efficient manner by splitting torque into two or more torque paths. In some embodiments, a continuously variable drive is configured to have a ball-type variator and two planetary gear sets. • Patent number: 10066732
Abstract: An automatic transmission system includes a housing containing automatic transmission fluid (ATF), a plurality of clutches configured to be engaged to generate gear ratios corresponding to forward speeds of the automatic transmission, wherein one clutch of the plurality of clutches is a friction clutch movable between a disengaged state, an engaged state utilized to create one or more gear ratios of the automatic transmission, and a slippingly engaged state between the disengaged state and the engaged state where the friction clutch is not engaged to create a gear ratio of the automatic transmission, and a controller configured to selectively move the friction clutch to the slippingly engaged state when the friction clutch is not being utilized to generate the one or more gear ratios, such that the friction clutch generates heat from friction to thereby rapidly heat the ATF in the housing and improve operating efficiency of the transmission.

  • Patent number: 9970510
Abstract: A multi-speed automatic transmission includes a housing, a transmission input shaft, and a plurality of clutches. Different combinations of clutches of the plurality of clutches are engaged to generate different gear ratios corresponding to respective forward speeds of the automatic transmission. The plurality of clutches are positioned within the housing and include a first friction clutch coupled the input shaft and having a first hub, and a second friction clutch having a second clutch hub. The second friction clutch is disposed about the input shaft and radially nested within the first clutch hub such that the second friction clutch is positioned radially between the first clutch hub and the input shaft. The first friction clutch is engaged to generate at least two forward speeds of the transmission and the second friction clutch is engaged to generate seven forward speeds of the transmission including the two forward speeds.

  • Patent number: 9268928
Abstract: Continuous authentication of a user of a computing device is established to ensure security of the computing device. A smart pen fingerprint print reader identifies a user fingerprint and a determination is made to grant access to a computer device for this user. Communication with the computing device is accomplished through the smart pen. A security event is detected when the continuous user contact with the smart pen device is disrupted. In addition, user inactivity or exceeding a threshold distance between the smart pen device and the computing device may also trigger a security event. Detection of a security event will cause the screen content of the computing device to become unintelligible and the computing device becomes inoperable.

  • Patent number: 8806465
Abstract: A method, system, and program product for removing exception classes that match a pattern is disclosed. Exception classes are searched for those of the exception classes that match that pattern. The parent classes of matched exception classes are refactored to accept an exception type argument. Code that throws the matched exceptions is rewritten by replacing the exception class with the parent class and adding a corresponding exception type. Code that catches the thrown exceptions is rewritten by changing a catch clause to catch a parent exception class and inserting a case statement for the exception type in that catch clause. The matched exception classes are removed.

  • Patent number: 8444517
Abstract: A multi-speed hybrid transmission includes a main gearset connected to a vehicle gas combustible engine and providing torque to an output shaft. The transmission also includes an electric drive unit comprising an electric motor that is selectably connectable to the output shaft to provide additional torque to the output shaft. When connected to the output shaft, the electric drive unit improves vehicle performance under certain driving conditions (e.g., high boost in low gear or in upper gears) while also improving fuel efficiency.

  • Patent number: 8166468
Abstract: A computer implemented method, computer program product, and data processing system for reducing the number of inner classes in a compiled computer program written in an object-oriented programming language. An outer class of the compiled computer program is received, wherein the outer class contains an inner class, wherein the outer class comprises instructions to create an instance of an inner class. The instance is to be used as one of a callback, a listener command, a set of instructions by which an object instance of the inner class transfers information to the corresponding containing instance of the outer class, and combinations thereof. A transformation of the outer class is performed by moving methods of the inner class, as well as their contained instructions, into the outer class. The behavior of the compiled computer program remains unchanged.

  • Publication number: 20110146445
Abstract: A dual mesh gear system is provided for a motor vehicle transmission having three axes. The transmission includes two input shafts, first and second clutch assemblies, first and second countershafts, and an output shaft. The transmission uses a first dual mesh for gears four and six and a second dual mesh for gears five and seven. Reverse within the transmission is driven by a reverse driver gear fixedly attached to second gear on the second countershaft. The reverse driver gear is continuously meshed with a reverse driven gear on the first countershaft. The reverse gear combination achieves a reverse gear ratio greater than or equal to the gear ratio of first gear.
