  • Patent number: 7028048
Abstract: A method for handling a database containing objects extending into a coordinate system, representing a multidimensional reality. The coordinate system is divisible into a plurality of defined, multidimensional intervals. Each time an object is entered into the database, the method determines the multidimensional intervals into which the object extends. For each of these intervals, the method determines the number of objects extending into the interval and compares the number of objects with a predetermined threshold value. If the threshold value is exceeded, the interval is divided into at least two smaller intervals, in order to limit the number of objects within any interval. Each interval is linked to a set of objects extending into that interval, and each object is linked to a set of intervals into which the object at least partly extends.

  • Patent number: 6816851
Abstract: The invention relates to a method for assigning an identity to an object (10) in a database, which object has an extension that includes a plurality of coordinate points in a coordinate system representing a multidimensional reality. The method is characterised by the steps of selecting one of the object's coordinate points (P0) and assigning the object an identity (11) based on the coordinates (x0,y0,z0,t0) of said coordinate point. Selecting the dimensions of the coordinate system in a suitable manner, e.g. by allowing them to comprise time, space and alternative embodiments, ensures that all objects in the database have wholly unique identities that are also based on one of the coordinate points of the object. This can be used to advantage in the database structure.

  • Patent number: 6694085
Abstract: A device for feeding optical fibers into a tubular element, duct, or the like. For ease of handling, the fiber feeding device includes a channel into which there can be inserted a bar which includes one or more longitudinally extending blow passages, where each passage has a cross-section that is adapted to a given type of optical fiber. Holes are provided in the bottom surface of the channel close to its respective rear and front edges, for delivering and removing compressed air used to advance the optical fiber. With the optical fiber placed in the blow passage in the bar, the optical fiber in said passage will be advanced when compressed air is delivered through the holes in the rear edge of the bar, by virtue of the blow passage functioning as a Venturi tube where a leakage flow exerts an ejector effect on the optical fiber to promote advancement of said fiber through the blow passage.

  • Patent number: 6424769
Abstract: A method for producing an opto cable with a central strain relief core, a glue layer on the surface of the core, a first array of optofibre-containing tubular elements bonded to the core by the glue layer, and a porous filing material filling the space between the tubular elements and the glue on the surface of the strain relief core. At least a second array of optofibre-containing tubular elements is bonded to the first array by surrounding the first array of tubular elements and the filling material with a layer of glue which bonds the second array of tubular elements to the structure. Filling material is added between the tubular elements of the second array and the layer of glue. Additional concentric arrays of glue layers, tubular elements, and filling material can be added in the same manner. A casing surrounds the outermost concentric array of tubular elements.

  • Patent number: 6332951
Abstract: A method and a device for measuring the content of chemicals used in connection with bleaching of preferably cellulose fibers in a pulp, suspension for the purpose of providing a better and more uniform product quality and preventing overdosage of the bleaching chemical used. According to the invention a measurement sample is derived from a predetermined volume of the pulp suspension after or during the bleaching. Further, a catalyst in the shape of the enzyme catalase is added to the sample, which is agitated so that the bleaching chemical is decomposed and oxygen gas is generated, which oxygen gas pushes out a certain sample volume for the measurement sample, which sample volume is directly or indirectly converted, e.g. via a simple algorithm, to a value representing the content of the bleaching chemical used.

  • Patent number: 6124111
Abstract: The invention relates to a method and a device for measuring the amount/activity of the enzyme catalase before or in connection with bleaching of cellulose fibers preferably in a pulp suspension for the purpose of providing a better and more uniform product quality and a correct dosing of the actual bleaching substance during the bleaching. According to the invention a measurement sample is derived from a predetermined volume of the pulp suspension after or during the bleaching. Further, a determined amount of bleaching substance is added to the sample, which is agitated so that the bleaching substance is decomposed and oxygen gas is generated, which oxygen gas pushes out a certain sample volume from the measurement sample, which sample volume is measured after a determined time and is directly or indirectly converted, e.g. via a simple algorithm, to a value representing the actual amount of catalase.

  • Patent number: 5105772
Abstract: Method to improve the combustion in a combustion engine for reducing the content of harmful components of the exhausts, whereby a liquid composition including a peroxide or a peroxo compound is supplied to the combustion chamber. The liquid composition is injected in such a way that a portion of the liquid composition passes through the outlet valve (17), when the engine goes from exhaust to intake stroke, thus causing an improved afterburning in both exhaust pipe (16) and possible catalytic equipment.

  • Patent number: 4969446
Abstract: An internal combustion engine includes: a combustion chamber with a suction opening; an inlet valve for closing the suction opening; a fluid supply line with an open end; and a gaseous medium supply line with an open end. The open end of the fluid supply line is in close proximity to the suction opening. The gaseous medium supply line surrounds a portion of the fluid supply line in the vicinity of the open end of the fluid supply line. The open end of the gaseous medium supply line is in close proximity to the open end of the fluid supply line. And the open end of the gaseous medium supply line is directed toward the suction opening of the combustion chamber. In operation, fluid is supplied through the fluid supply line in such small quantities that the fluid is in an almost pressure-free condition at the open end of the fluid supply line.

  • Patent number: 4583173
Abstract: Apparatus is disclosed for detecting wheel slip of a driven wheel with respect to a surface. A magnet is fastened to the wheel and a sensor coil is fixedly mounted adjacent the path of rotation of the magnet. The sensor generates one electrical pulse each time the associated magnet rotates past it. Thus, the time of rotation of the wheel corresponds to the time interval between the pulses provided by the coil. The rotation time of the driven wheel is compared against the rotation time of a similarly equipped free rolling wheel to detect wheel slip. A wheel slip indication is given if the difference in wheel rotation times is greater than a selected limit. Acceleration of the wheels may interfere with the wheel slip detection, because the rotation times of the driven and free rolling wheels are not measured at precisely the same time.
