Abstract: A print substrate-contacting element having an ink-repellent coating on a surface of a microstructured carrier is described, the coating including at least one derivative of an amphiphilic organic compound whose polar region has an acidic character. A method for coating a surface of a microstructured carrier of a print substrate-contacting element is distinguished by the application of an amount of substance, which includes at least one derivative of an amphiphilic organic compound whose polar region has an acidic character, by treating the surface with an alcoholic solution of the amount of substance. The print substrate-contacting element can very advantageously be the surface of a back-pressure cylinder in a print substrate-processing machine, in particular in a printing press. The coating method can be carried out in a print substrate-processing machine.

Abstract: A multi-motor drive for a printing press having a plurality of printing unit groups, includes at least one motor provided for each of the printing unit groups, and gear trains via which the printing unit groups are synchronously driven. The gear trains are mechanically separated from one another during a printing operation. The at least one motor is assigned to a respective separation location between the printing unit groups. A method for driving a printing press is also provided.
