Abstract: The performance of quantum key distribution by systems and methods that use wavelength division multiplexing and encode information using both wavelength and polarization of photons of two or more wavelengths. Multi-wavelength polarization state encoding schemes allow ternary-coded digits, quaternary-coded digits and higher-radix digits to be represented by single photons. Information expressed in a first radix can be encoded in a higher radix and combined with a string of key values to produce a datastream having all allowed digit values of that radix in a manner that allows eavesdropping to be detected without requiring the sender and receiver to exchange additional information after transmission of the information.

Abstract: A method is for stimulating the growth of bacteria of the Bacteroidetes phylum in the gut microbiota of a mammal. The method includes administering a yeast product as a prebiotic agent to the mammal. The yeast product comprises the walls of yeast cells, such as those of the genera Saccharomyces, Pichia, Candida, Kluyveromyces, Yarrowia and/or Wickehomomyces, or a fraction thereof.

Abstract: A composition including at least a polyol for the prevention of oral and dental infections or diseases and/or maintaining good oral and dental hygiene, thus allowing the maintenance of good oral and dental health. More specifically, treating demineralisation of dental enamel, and especially for stimulating remineralisation thereof, using the composition including at least one polyol selected from maltitol and xylitol.
