Abstract: According to aspects described herein, there is disclosed a method of providing location information for use with a global positioning system. The method includes outputting a locating query for entry of a pair of location codes. Each location code includes no more than 5 alphanumeric characters. Also, each location code is a number based on a numbering system using a value greater than 10 to determine place value. The method also includes translating the location codes into first location information for use with a global positioning system. The first location information includes geographic location identification, an address for the geographic location, directions to the geographic location and/or immediate routing information representing at least a portion of the directions. The method also includes outputting the first location information to a user.
