Patent number: 12143728Abstract: The technical problem of enhancing the quality of an image captured by a front facing camera in low light conditions is addressed by displaying the viewfinder of a front facing camera with an illuminating border, termed a viewfinder ring flash. A viewfinder ring flash acts as a ring flash in low light conditions. A viewfinder ring flash may be automatically generated and presented in the camera view user interface (UI) when the digital sensor of a front facing camera detects a low light indication based on intensity of incident light detected by the digital image sensor of the camera.Type: GrantFiled: March 20, 2023Date of Patent: November 12, 2024Assignee: Snap Inc.Inventors: Newar Husam Al Majid, Christine Barron, Ryan Chan, Bertrand Saint-Preux, Shoshana Sternstein

Patent number: 12101564Abstract: The technical problem of automatically reprocessing an image captured by a camera in a manner that produces a personalized result is addressed by providing a customized image reprocessing system powered by machine learning techniques. The customized image reprocessing system is configured to automatically reprocess an image on a pixel level using a machine learning model that takes, as input, the image represented by pixel values, sensor data detected by the digital sensor of a camera at the time the image was captured, and, also, flash calibration parameters previously generated for that specific user.Type: GrantFiled: August 14, 2023Date of Patent: September 24, 2024Assignee: Snap Inc.Inventors: Newar Husam Al Majid, Christine Barron, Ryan Chan, Bertrand Saint-Preux, Shoshana Sternstein

Publication number: 20240305878Abstract: Method of generating modified media content item based on user's setting selection starts with a processor causing a camera personalization interface to be displayed by a display of a client device. The processor receives a setting selection from the client device via the camera personalization interface. The processor determines a pre-capture setting and a post-processing setting based on the setting selection. The processor calibrates a camera of the client device using the pre-capture setting. The processor receives a media content item including an image captured using the camera and generates a modified media content item by modifying the media content item using the post-processing setting. Other embodiments are described herein.Type: ApplicationFiled: May 15, 2024Publication date: September 12, 2024Inventor: Bertrand Saint-Preux

Publication number: 20240236477Abstract: A method and system causing presentation of a camera view user interface (UI) on a computing device. The camera view UI includes an output of a digital image sensor of a camera. The system detects a face in an image corresponding to the output of the digital image sensor of the camera. The system generates a ring light including a non-opaque portion and a portion of a color with a predetermined lightness. The non-opaque portion includes a ring shape with a ring size and a position determined based on an image portion including the detected face. The system computes RGBA color values for ring light pixels, each value comprising a RGB component computed using a base color and an opacity value computed using an inner radius, center offset coordinates, and/or a radial gradient computation. The system causes display of the ring light over the camera view UI.Type: ApplicationFiled: January 5, 2024Publication date: July 11, 2024Inventors: Elizabeth Loretta Corso, Vineet Kapil, Amit Patel, Bertrand Saint-Preux

Publication number: 20230328390Abstract: The technical problem of enhancing the quality of an image captured in low light conditions by a front facing camera is addressed by providing an adaptive front flash system. An adaptive front flash system automatically adjusts configuration parameters of an overlaid view that operates in lieu of a front flash, termed a front flash view. The configuration parameters are adjusted based on characteristics of the output of the digital image sensor of the front facing camera. Examples of configuration parameters of the front flash view include one or more of brightness of the display, color temperature of the front flash view, and transparency of the front flash view.Type: ApplicationFiled: June 13, 2023Publication date: October 12, 2023Inventors: Newar Husam Al Majid, Christine Barron, Ryan Chan, Bertrand Saint-Preux, Shoshana Sternstein
