    Abstract: According to one aspect of an exemplary embodiment of the disclosure, a system and method for providing an indication of the mode of operation of an X-ray imaging system operable in a fixed mode or an automatic optimization of parameter (AOP) mode, and an operational mode indication system including at least one of a visual indicator and an audio indicator. The selection of an operational mode for the X-ray system enables a control processing unit to activate the operational mode indication system in a first manner and in a second manner at least during the operation of the radiation source and the detector to provide an indication of a current mode of operation of the imaging system, wherein the first manner is readily discernable from the second manner.

    Abstract: An image processing system and method is provided. The image processing system includes a display, a processor, and a memory. The memory stores processor-executable code that when executed by the processor causes receiving an image of a region of interest of a patient with a medical catheter, tube or line disposed within the region of interest, detecting the medical tube or line within the image, generating a patient coordinate system relative to an anatomy of the patient within the image, generating a combined image by superimposing a first graphical marker on the image that indicates an end of the medical catheter, tube or line, and a second graphical marker on the image that indicates patient coordinate system, and displaying the combined image on the display. In addition, the system assesses common visualizable complications associated with CVC placement, including but not limited to hydrothorax, pneumothorax, pneumomediastinum and CVC position changes between x-rays taken at different times.

The system includes a processor configured to generate an overview image of at least a portion of a patient. The processor is configured to generate a cross-sectional image including a cross-sectional view of the overview image. The processor is also configured to generate a statistical image showing a parameter value relating to the portion of the patient shown in the overview image. The system also includes a visual output device connected to the processor. The visual output device is configured to display the overview image, the cross-sectional image, and the statistical image generally simultaneously. Also, the overview image, the cross-sectional image, and the statistical image are interconnected such that an update, change, or input applied to any one of the images results in an update to one or more of the other images.
