  • Publication number: 20140079305
Abstract: An apparatus and method process image data, including motion corrupted data, from a magnetic resonance imaging procedure to obtain and reconstruct images for cardiac, cardiovascular, coronary arterial, and/or pulmonary vein diagnoses in a subject. The apparatus and method include a processor operating predetermined software which receives the image data, classifies the received image data as accepted image data or rejected image data, and applies a predetermined relationship between the accepted image data and the rejected image data to correct for motion of the subject and to generate and output a reconstructed image of the subject corrected for the motion from the image data, with the reconstructed image having a relatively high signal-to-noise ratio.

  • Publication number: 20130338424
Abstract: Method and devices are provided for treating subjects with Transcranial Magnetic Stimulation (TMS). According to some approaches, the methods and devices are configured for the treatment of ongoing seizures. Other approaches relate to the use of TMS as an antiepileptogenic or for use in determining preferential placement of intracranial probes.

  • Publication number: 20130195895
Abstract: The invention relates to methods of modulating immune responses in a subject such as by administering to the subject agents which modulate tim-1, tim-2 or tim-4 activity, or which modulate the physical interaction between tim-1 and tim-4 or between tim-2 and a tim-2 ligand. Immune responses include, but are not limited to, autoimmune disorders, transplantation tolerance, and Th1 and Th2-mediated responses and disorders. The invention also relates to novel assays for identifying agents which modulate the physical interaction between tim-1 and tim-4. In addition, the invention relates to novel soluble tim-4 polypeptides and to nucleic acids which encode them.

  • Publication number: 20130183688
Abstract: The invention relates to isolated polypeptides and nucleic acids encoding polypeptides which comprise a tim-3 IgV domain and a tim-3 intracellular domain, wherein the polypeptides do not comprise a tim-3 mucin domain or a tim-3 transmembrane domain. In addition, the invention relates to methods of modulating immune responses in a subject, comprising administering to the subject a therapeutically effective amount of an agent that modulates tim-3 activity. Immune responses include, but are not limited to, immune tolerance, transplantation tolerance, Th1 responses and Th2 responses.

  • Publication number: 20130030510
Abstract: A neural prosthetic device is provided that includes one or more ion-selective membranes enabled by electrically-controlled local modulation of ion concentrations around a nerve so as to achieve different excitability states of the nerve for electrical stimulation or inhibition of nerve signal propagation. The local modulation is achieved by positioning the nerve in a bipolar perpendicular arrangement so as to modulate the ion concentrations of the one or more ion-selective membranes in situ to change the nerve excitability locally at the site of electrical stimulation or along the nerve for on-demand suppression of nerve propagation.
