Abstract: A coupling system for vending machine compartment lids to accommodate variable physical open-top compartment configurations on a drawer. Multiple compartment lids can be configured on the drawer to accommodate various open-top compartment configurations. The compartment lids can accommodate a wide variety of different sized products without having to be removed or replaced. The coupling system can be used to connect or link one or more compartment lids together to cover various sized open-top compartments on the drawer. The connected or linked lids can be moved between an open position allowing access to respective receptacles of the open-top compartments and a closed position restricting access to the receptacles of the open-top compartments. The coupling system and compartments in some embodiments are electromechanically actuated using sensors, controllers, and other control hardware.
