Abstract: An automated food dispensing system is disclosed which uses microwave energy to rapidly heat precooked food items, including complete meals, from low storage temperatures to elevated serving temperatures. Mechanical means are provided to almost instantaneously transport any one of several selectable food items from refrigerated storage compartments into a microwave heating chamber upon insertion of proper coinage or other validation and for automatic delivery of the heated meal or other food item through a delivery chute upon completion of a predetermined heating interval. Container means are provided to prevent the heating of certain food components, such as salads and cold desserts, while rapidly heating other items. Microwave transparent thermal insulation of the food container is provided to permit transportation of the refrigerated food contents with limited spoilage prior to its use and which maintains food items heated therein at elevated temperatures for prolonged periods after dispensing.

Abstract: A magnetron electron discharge device preferably for use in microwave heating or cooking apparatus has a cylindrical resonant anode structure surrounding a concentric electron emitting filament which is supported directly between re-entrant end closures housing magnet members which are external to the vacuum envelope but are so located as to achieve high magnet circuit efficiency, rugged construction and low spurious noise output.

Abstract: A combined microwave-thermal range including an oven cavity and lower storage space, the bottom wall of the oven cavity having a generally central opening. A microwave module including a microwave power supply housing enclosing a magnetron and blower, and of generally rectangular shape, is arranged horizontally and extending crosswise seated in the back of the storage space. The module includes a waveguide of rectangular cross section having its rear end secured to the top of the housing and having its front end extending forwardly, cantilever-fashion, under the bottom wall of the cavity, with the outlet of the waveguide in alinement with the central opening.
