Abstract: A power tool that includes a housing and a transmission assembly. The housing has a pair of mating housing shells that cooperate to define a handle and a pair of first mounts. Each of the first mounts includes a pair of circumferentially spaced-apart ribs. At least one of the circumferentially-spaced apart ribs is contoured to define a notch. The transmission assembly has a transmission sleeve into which a multi-speed reduction gearset is received. The transmission sleeve has a pair of second mounts. Each of the second mounts includes a boss that is configured to be received in an associated one of the notches between a corresponding pair of the circumferentially-spaced apart ribs to thereby inhibit axial and rotational movement of the transmission sleeve relative to the housing.

Abstract: A power tool that includes a transmission assembly with a transmission sleeve, a multi-speed reduction gearset, and a speed selector mechanism. The transmission sleeve includes a tubular body into which the multi-speed reduction gearset is received. The multi-speed reduction gearset has a first movable member that is movable in an axial direction to at least partly coordinate operation of the multi-speed reduction gearset in a plurality of different speed ratios. The speed selector mechanism includes a first actuator and a rotary selector cam. The first actuator extends through the transmission sleeve and engages the first movable member. The rotary selector cam is rotatably mounted on the tubular body and defines a pair of first cam slots into which the first actuator is received. The first cam slots are closed and are configured to coordinate movement of the first actuator to correspondingly coordinate movement of the first movable member.
