  • Publication number: 20130337809
Abstract: Various features and aspects of the present disclosure are adapted to facilitate improved reception of page messages at an access terminal operable in a wireless communication system. When the access terminal is in a region where two or more cells overlap, if the access terminal is moving away from the coverage area of an active cell and moving towards the coverage area of a neighbor cell, the access terminal may miss an incoming page message transmitted from its serving cell. Thus, the access terminal may dedicate fingers of a rake receiver to listen to paging information transmitted from one or more neighbor cells, decoding this information if a page decoding operation corresponding to the active cell fails. Other aspects, embodiments, and features are also claimed and described.

  • Publication number: 20130303181
Abstract: Aspects of the present disclosure provide methods and apparatuses for improved throughput for network subscriptions in multi-SIM, multi-standby wireless devices by altering a tune away frequency to another network subscription based on throughput level or communication link parameters. For example, the present application provides a method of tune away in a wireless system, which includes initiating a data session via a first subscription in a multi-subscriber identity module, multi-standby user equipment, determining that a data rate associated with the data session is less than a threshold data rate value, establishing a modified tune away frequency based on the determining, and tuning a radio resource away to a second subscription based on the modified tune away frequency. Through such operation, throughput on an active subscription in such user equipment can be dynamically maximized.

  • Publication number: 20130260752
Abstract: Systems, methods, and computer program products for dynamically selecting cell search parameters by a mobile device are discussed. In one aspect, a mobile device first acquires a first radio access network (RAN) cell using a first search window associated with the first RAN cell, and then determines to acquire a second RAN cell operating at least in part in the same region as the first RAN cell. The mobile device then selects a second search window for acquiring the second RAN cell. Particularly, mobile device determines if a pilot spacing parameter for the second RAN cell is known. If the pilot spacing parameter is known, the mobile device computes the second search window as a function of the pilot spacing parameter. If the pilot spacing parameter is unknown, the mobile device selects a default value for the second search window. Other aspects, embodiments, and features are also claimed and described.

  • Publication number: 20130252607
Abstract: An access terminal configured for use in a wireless communication system utilizing discontinuous reception (DRx). To reduce power consumption, a pilot acquisition timeline may be reduced when channel conditions are favorable; and to improve call quality, the pilot acquisition timeline may be increased when channel conditions are poor. Other aspects, embodiments, and features are also claimed and described.

  • Publication number: 20130242828
Abstract: Devices, systems, articles of manufacture, and methods for optimized wake-up are described. According to some embodiments, page messages are received at a page message receiving sub-slot. The page messages can be received by a communication device's communication interface, processes by a communication device's processor, and stored in a communication device's memory. Upon receiving page messages, a wake-up record is updated. A communication device can enter sleep mode based in part on reception of the page messages. Other aspects, embodiments, and features are also claimed and described.

  • Publication number: 20130229960
Abstract: Access terminals are adapted to facilitate power regulation of a transmitter circuit by employing a transmitter power timer. An access terminal may identify expiration of a predetermined period of time without any data to be sent. The access terminal may subsequently power down the transmitter circuit in response to the expiration of the predetermined period of time. Methods for facilitating power regulation of a transmitter circuit include initiating a transmitter power timer after a data transmission, and powering off the transmitter circuit when the transmitter power timer expires without data to be transmitted. The transmitter power timer can be adapted to facilitate guarantee frames for smart blanking, and can operate independent of a dormancy timer. Other aspects, embodiments, and features are also included.
