Abstract: A shared reality system is described here that defines a platform-agnostic format for three-dimensional objects for use with AR and VR and projects these objects into VR and AR worlds that can be seen by multiple users at the same time. Each user can see the same object and the object may contain shared information that an operator of the system wants everyone to see, such as scores, advertisements, offers, or status information. Rather than having separate individual experiences, each user sees the same virtual objects as if they were present in the real world. The format used for displaying the AR and VR content is compatible with a wide variety of device types, so that content creators can focus on their content and ignore platform differences. Thus, the shared reality system makes it easy for content creators to create shared reality experiences across a wide variety of devices.
