  • Publication number: 20170230252
Abstract: A method and system for deep stats inspection (DSI)-based smart analytics for service function chaining (SFC) in a virtualized network/service environment are described. DSI assists the service function forwarder (SFF) to analyze the path, routing, processing history, forecasted transit nodes and destination of packet-streams. The SFF can be physical or virtual or a combination of both in the chained path. The packet streams can have a header or a trailer that may carry (a) a profile of the service that is generating the traffic being carried by the packet-stream/flow, and (b) a signature of the expected and traversed chain, path or route. The profile and the signature can be in the form of statistical information and can help the current SFF make intelligent chaining and forwarding decisions. The methods and systems described can help fulfill both end-to-end network and service (quality, customers experience, etc.) expectations.

  • Publication number: 20160315927
Abstract: A Personal Black Box (PBB) of data (and information) in a network (e.g., the Internet) is established and managed. The PBB can utilize both Personally Identifiable Information (PII) and other associated information from the public Clouds/Data-Centers to create a Personal Data Store (PDS). The PDS may contain any or all of public, private, and secret data. Authenticated access to the private data blocks may be allowed. The secret data blocks are not accessible except by the legitimate owner(s) of the data. The PBB allows partitioning of the data based on many factors including sensitivity and ownership. It is also possible to spoof potential hackers by actively inviting them into a game of sharing data, tools and techniques.

  • Patent number: 9432306
Abstract: A system and method for cloud-based implementation of control of focused overload of network elements is disclosed. Resource blocks are obtained for a signaling part of a network element from a variety of networked resources. The resource blocks are integrated into a pool and a unified view is presented to applications and services communicating with the signaling part of the network element. The signaling part of the network element controls allocation of resources from a media part of the network element via instructions over virtual private network links. Resource blocks for the media part of the network element are obtained from a variety of networked resources, wherein the resource blocks are integrated into a pool and a unified view is presented to the signaling part of the network element. The media part of the network element uses the resource blocks for the applications and services for a duration of time, and additional borrowed resources are released after successful utilization.

  • Patent number: 9397887
Abstract: A system and method for implementing distributed virtual-resource-based (cloud-based) session border gateway (SBG) functions are presented. Because no dedicated physical resources need to be committed for implementation of the SBG features and functions, as in traditional border gateway functions implementations, the invention has significant cost, resource allocation, integration, and operational advantages over traditional methods. In addition, new features and functions can be easily developed and integrated with the Cloud-Based SBG (CB-SBG) implementations very cost-effectively.

  • Publication number: 20160173320
Abstract: A method and system for the design, implementation, and operation of an adaptive software-defined networking controller (aSDNC) is described. Traditional SDN controllers support stateless control of forwarding/data-path elements (logical or physical) in order to provide quasi-seamless control/management of information flows. The proposed SDN controller can not only adapt to peripheral (both lower and upper) requirements of elements/devices, it can also help maintain the states of the flows and can scale well above any sets of management/operations requirements. Distributed management of states is achieved in an application/services specific fashion, and hence the complexity of the controller does not grow exponentially with the number of flows that are being managed by the controller. The details of the requirements and exemplary operations of the aSDNC are presented.

  • Patent number: 9348635
Abstract: A method for determining and then abstracting the requirements for the interface between virtual network entity or element (VNE) and Network Hypervisor (NHV) is described. The abstraction helps creation of an open and interoperable VNE-NHV environment because suitable interworking Apps for interface can now be easily invoked on the basis of instantaneous demands from the services. Automation of configuration together with assignment of VNEs mitigates the impact of limitation of resources in any network. Once an NHV is created and the VNEs—irrespective of their domains—are attached to it, the VNEs can be utilized by the services seamlessly.

  • Publication number: 20160119450
Abstract: The disclosure relates to a method and system for virtualized network entity (VNE) based network operations and support system (NOSS). The fundamental entity of network operations is VNE. Each VNE provides the necessary computing, storage, and networking features/functions that are desired by the applications (apps) or services. The apps and services provide initial, normal/nominal and overload scenario(s) based VNE configuration request to the NOSS, and the NOSS offers one or more VNE based apps/services support configuration that can be activated flexibly based on the dynamic demands. The requirements and sample operations of the NOSS, for example, attachment of virtualized layer-3 network entities to NOSS via open and interoperable interfaces, are described.

  • Publication number: 20150319037
Abstract: A method for virtualizing the commonly used network (ISO layer-3) entities is described. The entities include router, routing/topology database, firewall, load balancer, etc. The virtualization paradigm helps network-aware services and devices to be more effective, and it is equally attractive for service-/device-aware networks. In terms of using the network entities, the Applications and Services can utilize either virtual entities or physical entities or a combination of both in order to gracefully support service experience, overload and faults, seamlessly.

  • Publication number: 20150033276
Abstract: Systems and methods are disclosed which adjust virtualized resources for delivery of a real-time multi-media session to a user terminal. Based on resource parameters, setting resource requirements, the user terminal sets resource requirements for delivery of the real-time multi-media session. The user terminal allocates the resources in accordance with the set resource requirements. The user terminal then continually determines if the distributed resources are sufficient for a desired quality of experience. If the distributed resources are not sufficient, at the user terminal adjusts the allocation of resources by procuring resources from a management of resources (MRD)/resources pre-positioning policy (RPP) database, to maintain the desired quality of experience. The resource parameters may include historic trends of resource allocation of delivery of audio, video, and/or text-messaging, current resource allocation trends, optimization criteria, traffic signature generation, and the like.
