Publication number: 20240183244Abstract: A technique facilitates collecting data, related to a fracturing, run-in-hole, or pull-out-of hole operation. A frac plug is provided with electronics for obtaining the desired information related to the operation. For example, the frac plug may be constructed with electronic sensors, a digital storage device, and a power supply or other power related equipment. Depending on the application, the frac plug may be a composite frac plug, degradable frac plug, dummy frac plug, or other suitable frac plug. Retrieval of the information obtained may be done via coupling with an associated device, e.g. inductive or physical coupling, by utilizing a broadcast transmitter/receiver, by physical retrieval of the storage device, or by physical retrieval of the dummy frac plug.Type: ApplicationFiled: February 16, 2024Publication date: June 6, 2024Inventors: Isaac Aviles, John Whitsitt, William Norrid, Sidney Jasek, Robert M. Graham, Laurent Alteirac, Bhushan Pendse, Audrey Cherel, Huilin Tu, Houssem Kharrat

Patent number: 11927064Abstract: A system includes a setting tool, which includes a housing, a piston, and an inner mandrel, and a settable device. The housing includes a first section configured as a setting sleeve, an intermediate section, and a second section. The piston includes an interior power charge chamber and a piston housing including at least one passage in fluid communication with the power charge chamber that interfaces with a top face of the intermediate section of the housing. The piston is mounted within a second bore of the second section via an anti-present mechanism. The inner mandrel is received in the second bore within a bottom recess of the piston housing and extends longitudinally through bores of the intermediate and first sections. At least a portion of the system is adjustable to eliminate a gap between the setting sleeve and a top of the settable device mounted on the inner mandrel.Type: GrantFiled: September 14, 2021Date of Patent: March 12, 2024Assignee: SCHLUMBERGER TECHNOLOGY CORPORATIONInventors: Bhushan Pendse, Laurent Alteirac, Robert M. Graham

Patent number: 11248436Abstract: A technique facilitates use of a frac diverter instead of a frac plug in a variety of fracturing operations. The frac diverter has a simpler and less expensive construction. Although the frac diverter may not form a seal with the surrounding casing in some applications, the frac diverter is able to sufficiently restrict flow of fracturing fluid to enable a successful fracturing operation. The frac diverter may comprise arrangements of at least one cone, at least one slip ring, and at least one corresponding sub which work in cooperation with a flow restricting element. The flow restricting element may comprise various types of rings, e.g. sealing element rings, able to sufficiently restrict flow of fracturing fluid past the frac diverter.Type: GrantFiled: July 26, 2018Date of Patent: February 15, 2022Assignee: SCHLUMBERGER TECHNOLOGY CORPORATIONInventors: Robert Matthew Graham, Michael Bilynsky, Roberto Jaime, Christopher Cromer, Sidney J.
