Abstract: A method for performing version management on a storage system and an associated apparatus are provided. The method includes the steps of: according to at least one rule, determining importance of a plurality of versions of a file in the storage system, respectively, in which importance of a specific version of the plurality of versions and a time difference between a next version of the specific version and specific any version have a positive correlation, and the importance of the specific version and a time difference between a latest version of the file and the specific version have a negative correlation; and deleting one or more versions corresponding to least importance within the plurality of versions.

Abstract: A method for performing file synchronization control includes: generating and storing metadata of a plurality of files into a storage module of the electronic device, where file contents of the plurality of files are stored in at least one server, the electronic device and the server communicate with each other through at least one network, and the metadata include access rules corresponding to the plurality of files to indicate whether a user of the electronic device has permissions to perform file operations on the plurality of files; and according to the metadata of the plurality of files, controlling file synchronization between the electronic device and the server to update a synchronization file set within the electronic device. An associated apparatus performs the method.

Abstract: A method for cross-platform synchronizing attributes of files is provided. According to the method, a file attribute structure adopted by a first file system of a first computer system is expanded from a first file attribute structure to an integrated file attribute structure. Data of attributes of files of the first computer system under the integrated file attribute structure are gathered and uploaded to a server. A second computer system updates attributes of files of a second file system of the second computer system based on the data of the attributes of the first computer system, which is received from the server.

Abstract: A method for controlling operations of a network system is provided. The network system has a server and a plurality of client terminals linked to the server. According to the method, the server establishes a file set, each client terminal establishes a directory, and a first criterion and a second criterion of each client terminal are set respectively. Each client terminal selectively uploads file(s) to the server according to the first criterion, such that the server updates file(s) of the file set with the file(s) received from the client terminal. The server selectively transmits updates of the file(s) of the file set to each client terminal according to the second criterion of each client terminal. Each client terminal stores the updates of the file(s) received from the server in the directory of each client terminal.

Abstract: A device for synchronously sharing files includes a processor and a database. The processor is used for utilizing a synchronous data folder to record a newest modified version of a file generated by a user operating the file, and synchronously transmitting the newest modified version of the file to other client devices. The database is used for storing historical modified versions of the file generated by the user operating the file and the newest modified version of the file.
