    Abstract: Disclosed are methods of purchasing an item from a vending machine. In one example method after an item is purchased from a vending machine, the vending machine determines how many items are left in the vending machine. If the items are less than a predetermined value, the vending machine sends an alert to a cloud based management system. In this nonlimiting example embodiment, the cloud based management system may send a purchase order to a supplier in response to the alert.
