  • Patent number: 10366787
Abstract: A method of reducing nuisance alarms for a physiological parameter at a specific care unit by determining an alarm threshold optimized for the care unit, the care unit including a plurality of patients being monitored for the physiological parameter. Measured physiological parameters for the plurality of patients is measured and provided to a threshold recommendation system. The threshold recommendation system determines a recommended parameter specific alarm threshold value calculated to reduce false alarms by determining how many alarms are generated at each of a range of threshold values and choosing a threshold value from the range of threshold values that reduces a number of false alarms without unacceptably increasing missed true alarms for said patient measurements.

  • Patent number: 10349898
Abstract: Automated critical congenital heart defect (“CCHD”) screening systems and processes are described. A caregiver may be guided to use a single or dual sensor pulse oximeter to obtain pre- and post-ductal blood oxygenation measurements. A delta of the measurements indicates the possible existence or nonexistence of a CCHD. Errors in the measurements are reduced by a configurable measurement confidence threshold based on, for example, a perfusion index. Measurement data may be stored and retrieved from a remote data processing center for repeated screenings.

  • Publication number: 20190200941
Abstract: A patient monitoring system can have a display screen or portion thereof with graphic user interface for displaying indications of a patient's oxygen state. The indications can include the patient's SpO2, dissolved oxygen index, and/or an increasing or decreasing trend of dissolved oxygen index. The displays of oxygen state indications can be compact, and/or able to provide direct visual information to a user of various aspects of the patient's oxygen state. The display elements can be used to represent any other physiological parameters.

  • Patent number: 10327713
Abstract: A multi-parameter patient monitoring device rack can dock a plurality of patient monitor modules and can communicate with a separate display unit. A signal processing unit can be incorporated into the device rack. A graphics processing unit can be attached to the display unit. The device rack and the graphic display unit can have improved heat dissipation and drip-proof features. The multi-parameter patient monitoring device rack can provide interchangeability and versatility to a multi-parameter patient monitoring system by allowing use of different display units and monitoring of different combinations of parameters. A dual-use patient monitor module can have its own display unit configured for displaying one or more parameters when used as a stand-alone device, and can be docked into the device rack when a handle on the module is folded down.

  • Patent number: 10325681
Abstract: A method of reducing nuisance alarms from physiological parameter monitors by determining an alarm threshold adapted to a specific care unit, the patient care unit including a plurality of patients being monitored for the physiological parameter. The method includes analyzing physiological parameter measurements from the care unit to determine a number of alarm events indicated as a function of changing alarm criteria and providing an indication of a change in alarm threshold settings adapted to the care unit that reduces a plurality of false alarms without unacceptably increasing missed true alarms, the indication useable by a care provider facility to program alarm threshold settings in the patient care unit.

  • Patent number: 10307111
Abstract: A patient movement detector can receive inputs from position sensors, a thermal imaging camera, a video camera, and/or triangulation data. Based on one or more of these inputs, the patient movement detector can perform one or more of the following: fall prevention detection, bedsore prevention analysis, patient location detection, and patient walk test scoring. The patient movement detector can, for example, output a fall warning alarm, a bedsore warning alarm, patient location information, and walk test scores.

  • Publication number: 20190122763
Abstract: Medical patient monitoring devices that have the capability of detecting the physical proximity of a clinician are disclosed. The medical patient monitoring devices may be configured to perform a first selected action when the presence of a clinician is detected in a first detection area, and to perform a second selected action when the presence of the clinician is detected in a second detection area. The medical patient monitoring devices may be configured to determine whether a clinician is present in a detection area based on the strength of a signal from a clinician token, and based on a signal strength adjustment value associated with the clinician token. When the presence of a clinician is detected in a detection area, the medical patient monitoring devices may be configured to perform a predetermined action that is determined from a remote database communicatively coupled thereto.

  • Publication number: 20190117070
Abstract: The present disclosure includes a host device that is part of a patient monitoring system. The host device can provide an improved, organized, uncluttered, and graphically-rich display that presents an integrated display of real-time patient data and alarms from multiple integrated or non-integrated devices, such as patient monitors, ventilators, anesthesia gas machines, or intravenous (IV) pumps. The host device may provide a supplementary display for the patient data collected by the multiple devices and present information, such as comprehensive real-time patient status, historical trends, or alarm indicators, in an organized manner for particular clinical scenarios. The one or more displays can be central to a care team for a patient, and the care team can together simultaneously view and act upon the information presented.
