  • Patent number: 5666961
Abstract: An expansion indicator device is used around a waist of a user to indicate whether a threshold amount of stomach cavity expansion is achieved as the user breathes and includes a strap, a power source, a feedback indicator and a switch assembly. The strap is fabricated from a stiff yet flexible material and is sized and adapted to be secured around the waist of the user. The feedback indicator is operative between an activation state whereby the power source is connected to the feedback indicator thereby energizing the feedback indicator and a de-activation state whereby the power source is disconnected from the feedback indicator thereby de-energizing the feedback indicator. The switch assembly interconnected to the power source and the feedback indicator and is operatively connected to the strap so that, as the user breathes, the switch assembly is operative to move between a closed condition and an opened condition.

  • Patent number: 5476026
Abstract: A reed instrument mouthpiece with an adhesive backed tab to be placed on the upper surface of the mouthpiece. The elongated tab has an indented line, groove or slot on the breadth of its surface. The line, groove or slot provides the player with the proper distance to place the mouthpiece in his or her mouth by placing the teeth on the indented line, groove or slot. The lines, grooves or slots may be placed at different intervals and the tab would be fitted flush with the blowing end or tip of the mouthpiece. An indented line or groove may also be placed on the mouthpiece proper. A raised line or ridge may also be used on a tab or mouthpiece. As mouthpieces vary in size the tab may have to be trimmed which is easily done. The tab would cover the upper surface of the mouthpiece and taper slightly outward from the tip.

  • Patent number: 4194428
Abstract: A keyboard musical instrument utilizes a magnetic action to strike a resonator element with a hammer in response to playing of a pivotally mounted key, the magnetic action including a pair of opposite polarity magnetic poles mounted on an actuating end of the key and a magnetic pole mounted on the hammer to be disposed in horizontal alignment with one of the poles mounted on the key of an opposite polarity when the hammer is in a rest position such that the opposite polarity magnetic poles attract one another with the hammer in the rest position and, when the playing end of the key is depressed, the similar polarity pole on the actuating end of the key is moved to repel the magnetic pole carried on the hammer to impel the hammer to strike the resonator element. A block of non-magnetic material can extend from the lower magnetic pole on th actuating end of the key under the magnetic pole of the hammer to engage the same and initiate movement of the hammer when the playing end of the key is depressed.
