  • Patent number: 7355377
Abstract: A probe-type electrical tester having a lamp, a first pointed electrode connected to the lamp, and a second electrode comprising an alligator clip connected to the lamp. The pointed electrode occupies a sleeve which is telescopingly stored within the tester. The sleeve terminates in a hook shaped guard for receiving jacketed conductors to be held during testing and to prevent injury from the pointed electrode. The sleeve is manually extended. A lever then causes the pointed electrode to advance within the sleeve after the sleeve has reached the fully projected position, to enable piercing of the jacket of the jacketed conductor being tested. A detent holds the lever in the fully projected position, and the sleeve in its projected position. The sleeve prevented from escaping from the tester. When the pointed electrode is retracted, the lever can also be substantially retracted into the tester body.

  • Patent number: 7251980
Abstract: A hydraulic operated tool includes a body (B), a pair of jaws (21) mounted with respect to the body so that at least one of the jaws is movable between an opened jaw position and a closed jaw position so as to engage workpiece (W) between the jaws. A ram assembly (2) is disposed in the body and is operatively associated with the jaws. Spring structure (1) causes the ram assembly to move thereby causing the jaws to initially engage the workpiece with a first force. A pump assembly (7) exerts fluid on the ram assembly to move the ram assembly further, causing the jaws to exert a second force, greater than the first force, on the workpiece.

  • Patent number: 6895735
Abstract: A two wheeled carriage for converting a string trimmer to a wheeled appliance. The carriage has an axle, two nine inch or greater wheels, and a clamp for retaining the string trimmer's shaft. A swivel joint enables the clamp to adjust angular orientation of the appliance relative to the carriage. A latch locks the swivel joint in one of several angular orientations. The clamp includes an adjustable, flexible grasping element for engaging shafts of different dimensions and configurations. A lever operated over-center arrangement closes the grasping element over the appliance shaft. The clamp optionally includes saddles for securing that shaft in a fixed perpendicular and non-intersecting angular relationship to the axle. An adjuster varies deviation of that shaft from the horizontal. The adjustment mechanism may be located either between the axle and the swivel joint or alternatively between the swivel joint and the clamp.

Abstract: A two wheeled carriage for converting a hand held appliance such as a string trimmer to a wheeled equivalent thereof. The carriage has an axle and two wheels of diameter of at least nine inches, and a clamp for retaining the shaft of the appliance. A swivel joint mounted to the axle enables the clamp to adjust angular orientation of the appliance relative to the carriage. A latch selectively locks the swivel joint in a selected one of several available angular orientations. The clamp preferably includes a grasping element which is flexible and adjustable, for engaging shafts of different dimensions and configurations. A lever operated over-center arrangement closes the grasping element over the shaft of the appliance. The clamp optionally also includes two saddles for securing the shaft of the appliance in fixed perpendicular and non-intersecting angular relationship to the axle. An adjuster varies deviation of the shaft from the horizontal.

  • Patent number: 6341621
Abstract: A bi-stable valve arrangement includes a body having first and second opposing ends and constructed and arranged to define a passage between the body and another element so that the passage extends from the first end to the second end. A seal member associated with the body. A first spring structure biases the seal member in a first direction and a second spring structure biases the seal member in a direction opposite the first direction. The first and second spring structures are constructed and arranged so that the seal member may seal the passage.

  • Patent number: 6035634
Abstract: A hydraulic device includes a housing and a bulkhead disposed in the housing. A pump piston is provided in the housing and has first and second end surfaces with the second end surface of the pump piston and surfaces of the housing and of the bulkhead defining a pumping chamber. The pump piston is constructed and arranged to move within the housing to develop pressure on fluid in the pumping chamber. The first end surface of the pump piston and surfaces of the housing define a pump reservoir chamber. A ram piston is provided in the housing and has first and second end surfaces with the first end surface of the ram piston and surfaces of the housing and of the bulkhead defining a drive chamber. Connecting structure is associated with the bulkhead to communicate the pumping chamber with the drive chamber so that fluid pressure developed in the pumping chamber may be exerted on the first end surface of said ram piston. A barrier is provided in the housing between an end of the housing and the ram piston.

  • Patent number: 5609715
Abstract: A repair apparatus for tire punctures is operable upon a damaged tubeless tire in situ and includes a hollow probe initially containing a rubber boot disposed in a collapsed condition but subsequently automatically unfolding when urged into the tire interior by a plunger rod in the probe. A stem integral with a circular main body of the rubber boot is connected to the plunger rod by a flexible tether that serves to retain the unfolded boot juxtaposed the puncture point inside the tire while a drive rod forces a measured amount of rubber bonding fluid through the probe to sealingly secure the boot. Alignment and retention of the probe and drive rod is facilitated by a mounting unit secured to the tire by adjustable attachment elements clampingly engaging the rim of the wheel mounting the tire while threads on the probe and drive rod cooperate with tapped bores in the mounting unit to permit controlled advancement and retraction of the probe and drive rod.
