  • Publication number: 20220178645
Abstract: An inventive system comprising a pistol crossbow, a blowgun, a first gas seal operatively associated with said blowgun, and a first pistol crossbow bolt selectively operatively associated with said pistol crossbow and said blowgun, said first pistol crossbow bolt configured to be capable of being selectively operatively interchanged between said pistol crossbow and said blowgun for elastic launching by said pistol crossbow and pneumatic launching by said blowgun. It may further be seen in view of this disclosure that within the scope and the spirit of the inventive disclosure and the claims appended hereunto are inventive system and method examples including, but not limited to, a method of driving a hardware fastener and/or providing a hardware fastener driving system, a system and method for a PPECS stabilizer acceleration interface, and a gas seal comprising a bulkhead and a label configured to be capable of being mounted to said bulkhead.

  • Publication number: 20150226510
Abstract: An apparatus for efficiently and accurately launching subcaliber projectiles comprises: an elongate barrel; an associated discarding sabot; and an associated subcaliber projectile. In one embodiment, the sabot includes a registration means adapted to limit lateral displacement of the projectile while simultaneously permitting the projectile to touch the inner surface of the bore of the barrel. An alternative embodiment includes a magnetically attractable portion incorporated into the projectile and a magnetic detent for holding the projectile within the barrel bore in readiness for launching. Other alternative embodiments are disclosed.

  • Patent number: 8893696
Abstract: A projectile launcher comprising an elongate barrel provided with a bore, a magnetic detent, an associated discarding sabot, and an associated subcaliber projectile. Pending launch, the magnetic detent exerts a magnetic restraining influence to hold the subcaliber projectile inside the bore within proximity of the sabot. Launch thrust overcomes the magnetic restraining influence of the detent upon the projectile, and the sabot separates from the projectile after launch under the influence of atmospheric drag.

  • Publication number: 20130213377
Abstract: An apparatus for efficiently and accurately launching subcaliber projectiles comprises: an elongate barrel; a magnetic detent; an associated discarding sabot; and an associated subcaliber projectile. In one embodiment, the subcaliber projectile includes a steel shot which may be held in place by the magnetic detent against the inner surface of the barrel bore in readiness for launching, and the sabot includes two identical faces, one face serving as a thrust-transmitting face that engages the projectile and the other face serving as a thrust-pressurization face that receives thrust pressure provided by the user's breath. In an alternative embodiment, the sabot fits sufficiently loosely within the barrel bore to permit the sabot to slide through the bore under gravitational urging. Another alternative embodiment includes a crossbar detent to stop the sabot from exiting the bore through the breech opening. Other alternative embodiments are disclosed.

  • Patent number: 8297268
Abstract: A blowgun for efficiently and accurately launching subcaliber projectiles comprises: an elongate barrel; a detent comprising a magnet affixed near the proximal end of the barrel and a protrusion partially obstructing the bore breech; an associated conical shell discarding sabot; and an associated subcaliber projectile having a magnetically attractable foreshaft and a lightweight elongate shaft. The magnet and the protrusion cooperate antagonistically to hold the projectile abuttingly seated against the sabot in loaded disposition pending launch. The projectile shaft serves in-flight as an aerodynamic stabilizer. Alternatively a subcaliber steel BB-shot is launched with a foam sabot. Another alternative embodiment operates without a detent. An additional alternative embodiment utilizes a blowgun comprising a barrel having a longitudinal straight-line groove in the inner surface of the bore.
