Abstract: In a refrigeration compressor having at least one piston-cylinder arrangement therein for compressing gaseous refrigerant, an elongated, tube extending upwardly from a lubricant passage in the crankshaft for slinging oil radially, outwardly therefrom, and a lubricant deflector upstanding from the cylinder head to deflect slung oil over exterior surfaces of the cylinder head for conducting heat energy therefrom.

Abstract: The present invention provides a hermetic refrigeration compressor installation comprising an outer housing containing a refrigeration compressor, a plurality of indentations in the outer housing, a plurality of resilient grommets each having a grommet tip received within a respective one of the indentations, and a bonding between the grommets and the indentations for securing the grommets therein. Further provided is a base separate from the refrigeration compressor and outer housing, and projections on the base for mounting the grommets securely thereon. The method of the present invention comprises forming a plurality of indentations in the outer housing, providing a plurality of resilient grommets each having a grommet tip, adhesively securing each one of the grommet tips in a respective one of the indentations, and connecting the grommets securely to thebase.

Abstract: A variable capacity compressor for refrigeration systems such as air conditioners and heat pumps comprising an outer casing having a lubricant sump in the lower portion thereof, a crankcase internally spring mounted within the outer casing and having a pair of parallel, vertical crankshafts rotatably supported therein, wherein the crankshafts are arranged in side-by-side relationship, and at least two expansible chamber pumps, which may be piston, rotary or screw type, driven by the crankshafts. A pair of independently controlled electric motors have their rotors drivingly connected to the crankshafts, and in one embodiment of the invention, the motors have a common stator with two independently controlled sets of windings. In a further embodiment, two crankcases are provided, sharing a common lubricant sump.
