Patent number: 11854575Abstract: A microphone acquires audio data of a user's speech. The audio data is processed to determine sentiment data indicative of perceived emotional content of the speech. For example, the sentiment data may include values for one or more of valence that is based on a particular change in pitch over time or activation that is based on speech pace. A simplified user interface provides the user with a graphical representation based on the sentiment data and associated descriptors. For example, a visual indicator such as a dot may be shown at particular coordinates onscreen that correspond to the sentiment data. Text descriptors may also be presented near the dot. As the user continues speaking, and new audio data is processed, the interface is dynamically updated. The user may use this information to assess their state of mind, facilitate interactions with others, and so forth.Type: GrantFiled: September 30, 2019Date of Patent: December 26, 2023Assignee: AMAZON TECHNOLOGIES, INC.Inventors: Alexander Jonathan Pinkus, Hanhan Wang, Samuel Elbert McGowan, Bilyana Slavova, Narendra Gyanchandani, David Cole

Patent number: 11783834Abstract: Described are apparatus, systems, and methods that are operable to periodically detected and record a voice of a user associated with or wearing a wearable device. As described, the wearable device apparatus is configured to transition various components of the device between a low power state and an active state to determine if audio data that includes voice is detected. If voice is not detected, the components are transitioned back to the low power state, thereby conserving power of the wearable device. If voice is detected, the audio data that includes that voice is collected for further processing.Type: GrantFiled: September 29, 2022Date of Patent: October 10, 2023Assignee: Amazon Technologies, Inc.Inventors: Narendra Gyanchandani, Bilyana Slavova, Njenga Kariuki, Matthew Heida, Naveenan Vasudevan, Stephen Phillip Pant

Patent number: 11776021Abstract: Devices, systems, and methods are provided for synchronizing presentation across multiple devices. A method may include receiving, by a first device, a first price associated with a product and a first time, wherein the first price is presented in a virtual location. The method may include determining a second price and a second time, the second price associated with the product, wherein the second price is presented at a physical location. The method may include determining that the first time is after the second time. The method may include determining a difference between the first price and the second price. The method may include generating, based on the difference, one or more application programming interface (API) calls associated with replacing, at the physical location, presentation of the second price with presentation of the first price.Type: GrantFiled: April 1, 2020Date of Patent: October 3, 2023Assignee: Amazon Technologies, Inc.Inventors: Narendra Gyanchandani, Andrew Sutherland, Rajesh Babel, Bilyana Slavova, Rajan Navnitbhai Parmar

Patent number: 11410155Abstract: Features are disclosed for recognizing network-based user in a physical location. A system is provided for generating and detecting a scannable code. A time-sensitive scannable code unique to the user may be generated and presented by an electronic device such as a smartphone. The time-sensitive scannable code may be scanned at transaction terminal in the physical store. Using the scannable code, the system may securely determine that user profile information from the user's network-based activity may be provided to the transaction terminal for use in the physical location.Type: GrantFiled: March 27, 2017Date of Patent: August 9, 2022Assignee: Amazon Technologies, Inc.Inventors: Biraj Gauli, Sanjay Dash, Smita Joshi, Siddharth Lathia, Margaret Draughon Poole, Bilyana Slavova, Jiajun Zhao

Patent number: 11395097Abstract: This disclosure describes techniques for determining when to transition a service-provider application between an in-store mode of operation and an online mode of operation using time as a proxy for location of a mobile device executing an application. When a user arrives at a physical location of the service provider, the user may provide an indication of this arrival via the application. In response, the application may transition from the online mode of operation to the in-store mode of operation. Further, the application may set a timer for a predefined amount of time and, after this amount of time elapses, may transition from the in-store operation mode back to the online operation mode.Type: GrantFiled: October 12, 2020Date of Patent: July 19, 2022Assignee: Amazon Technologies, Inc.Inventors: Margaret Draughon Poole, Karen Arango, Smita Joshi, Siddharth Lathia, Bilyana Slavova, Jiajun Zhao

Patent number: 11393462Abstract: A device with a microphone acquires audio data of a user's speech. That speech comprises utterances, that together comprise a session. The audio data is processed to determine sentiment data indicative of perceived emotional content of the speech as conveyed by individual utterances of the user. That information is then used to determine the emotional content of the session. For example, the information may include several words describing the overall and outlying emotions of the session. Numeric metrics may also be determined, such as activation and valence. A user interface may present the words and metrics to the user. The user may use this information to assess their state of mind, facilitate interactions with others, and so forth.Type: GrantFiled: May 13, 2020Date of Patent: July 19, 2022Assignee: AMAZON TECHNOLOGIES, INC.Inventors: Narendra Gyanchandani, Bilyana Slavova, Daniel Kenneth Bone, Hanhan Wang, Njenga Kariuki
