Modifications to Env glycoprotein include deletions in the cleavage site, fusogenic domain, and spacing of heptad repeats 1 and 2 and different COOH-terminal deletions. Other modifications entail expression of Gag-Pol and Gag-Pol-Nef as fusion proteins.
