The questionnaire network is powered by a questionnaire creation tool and a questionnaire trading system. A questionnaire trading system for QTime makes it possible for producers of QTime, such as carriers, and consumers of QTime, such as product manufacturers and advertising companies, to buy or sell QTime in bulk and to trade in QTime as a commodity. In one embodiment, supplementary information and preambles that are part of a questionnaire are captured in audio form using the questionnaire creation tool and are stored selectively along with the questionnaire in a carrier's questionnaire repository or separately at a hosted repository.

Abstract: A method and system for interfacing to an electronic device is disclosed. The interfacing may enable the electronic device to communicate with a WiMax network by provisioning parameters for various fields in WiMax management objects. The provisioning may be accomplished by a user of the electronic device, with help of a customer service representative of the WiMax network service provider, and/or information exchange between the servers of the WiMax network and the electronic device. The information exchange between the electronic device and the WiMax servers may occur, for example, per connection, periodically, and/or upon change of information for one or more of said management objects. Information for provisioning the electronic device may also be, for example, communicated via a non-WiMax network.

Personalizations of an electronic device for a prior user are removed at activation of the device in a network. Personalizations for a user are also installed upon activation of the electronic device, according to user associated preference information stored in at least one server. The at least one server distributes update information for personalizing the electronic device, using the stored preference information. The stored preference information is also used to activate at least one network-based service.

Abstract: A device management server uses both point-to-point and broadcast transport protocols to remotely manage a plurality of electronic devices. The server uses extensions to a standard device management protocol to access, via the point-to-point transport protocol, device management information in memory of the electronic device. The device management information permits the electronic device to receive information using the broadcast transport protocol. Results from processing the received information are returned to the server using the point-to-point transport protocol. The device management server also employs handset control and enterprise control management objects to conduct device wipe, lock, unlock and other operations.

Abstract: A device management (DM) technique in which diagnostics management objects (diagnostics MOs) are created and used for remotely detecting and resolving problems with specific device features or applications in an electronic device in a network. The network is capable of supporting customer care calls from a user of the electronic device that might be having difficulties and desire help diagnosing a problem. By employing diagnostics MOs in the electronic device, the network is able to remotely determine an appropriate solution based on the diagnostics information returned by the electronic device.

Abstract: A system for employing SyncML DM for updating firmware in mobile handsets and other devices. The system employs enhancements to SyncML DM specifications. A SyncML management client employs new commands, specified by the present invention, for retrieving update packages for firmware updates, for the verification of a received update package, the command for saving the update package in an appropriate management object, the command for initiating an update process by an update agent and the command for the subsequent notification of the results of processing by the update agent (success, failure, etc.). More specifically, the SyncML DM management client employs new commands, specified by the present invention, for retrieving update packages for firmware updates and for updating the firmware selectively based on appropriateness, security and authentication, employing fault tolerant means.

Abstract: A mobile network wherein a mobile device with a prepaid SIM/Smart card is able to access services made available by a provider or operator providing the prepaid card, wherein the prepaid card not only provides the user's authorization to use the network, but also a default email account that can be used to at least send email, including pictures taken, and a default website account that can be used to at least upload pictures. A user of a mobile device can use a prepaid SIM card to access one or more specific services made available by the prepaid SIM card, the one or more specific services comprising a gaming service, an email service and a broadcast service.

Abstract: The present invention makes it possible to obtain debug- and other diagnostic information from mobile electronic devices in a system operator network. A Log Management object provides support for logging diagnostic data. A log file is employed to collect information on various device features for which tracing or debugging is turned on in a mobile electronic device such as, for example, a mobile handset, cellular phone, a personal digital assistant, a pager and a personal computer. It is also used to selectively collect information on specific events that are monitored, device specific data being collected, and network performance data, among other items. The diagnostic agent in the mobile device is a client side application that may run on the mobile device when required, or continuously as a monitoring application, and which manages and collects tracing information wirelessly to a server using a cellular data network.

Abstract: A communication network comprising a carrier network with a service coordinator is capable of acting upon SIM card change information detected by an agent located in the electronic devices used in the communication network. In general, the agent in electronic devices facilitates the determination of SIM Card changes in the electronic device. It also facilitates the selective reporting of such changes to the carrier network. In one embodiment, the communication network is capable of detecting SIM Card changes in the electronic device. In general, the carrier network determines updates to firmware, software, configuration etc. necessitated by the change in SIM card and selectively communicates it to the electronic device.

Abstract: A firmware update system comprising a loader module, an update agent, a secure loader manager, an update package reference, a setting service and a memory manager facilitates the download of update packages and subsequent update of firmware/software in mobile handsets. In one embodiment, the secure loader manager populates the update package reference with the appropriate information and flags, employing the setting service, after the successful download and verification of an update package. In another embodiment, an update driver is employed by the mobile handset to communicate information about a downloaded update package to the update agent for subsequent firmware update.

This includes a set of device and subscriber registries, which are being constantly updated as new terminals, and subscribers are added to the system. Abstract: An update package generation and distribution network facilitates the generation of update packages and the download of update packages to mobile devices employing pull-mode or push-mode mechanisms. The update packages may be created by a manufacturer or by the carrier employing a generation environment. Specifically, the update package generation and distribution network makes it possible to conduct over-the-air (OTA) updates to firmware and software on the mobile device by accessing update packages that are generated by the generation environment or by the manufacturer's generation environment and distributed by the update environment.

Abstract: A device management system enables management of firmware, provisioning, and configuration information updates to of a plurality of mobile electronic devices via a wireless communication network. A user self-care interface allows subscribers to interact with the device management system to identify problems in the mobile electronic devices, and to schedule updates, via a web-based interface. Delivery of updates to the mobile electronic devices is managed so as to maintain device management system loading at acceptable levels, within scheduling constraints.
