  • Patent number: 10503391
Abstract: A device, system and method for correcting operational device errors is provided. A memory stores first operational data associated with first context data and a first device, the first operational data indicative of how a given user action is performed at the first device to implement a given function defined by the first context data. A controller receives data indicative of a user action at a second device; when the data does not correspond to a respective function at the second device, and when current context data of the second device corresponds to the first context data of the first device, an intended function for the user action is identified by comparing the data with the first operational data. When a correspondence occurs, operational information indicative of how to implement the given function at the second device is retrieved and provided at one or more notification devices.

  • Publication number: 20190312985
Abstract: Systems and methods for processing digital image data representing multiple views of an object of interest use a sparse set of digital images along with object of interest profiling to provide a photo gallery for evidence-related workflows. Digital images are related to each other on the basis of common objects of interest represented in the images and their orientations within the views depicted in each image. Object of interest profile datasets, including spatial orientation data, enable efficient tracking of photography sessions in which a set of prescribed views of an object of interest are meant to be captured, as well as object-orientation-based photo gallery navigation. The systems recognize of a set of physical gestures that enable a user to intuitively navigate among digital images depicting different views of an object of interest based on how they were physically related to each other when captured.

  • Patent number: 10440526
Abstract: A method and apparatus for PTT over IoT is described herein. During operation each IoT device will be assigned to a talkgroup. Some talkgroups may have a single IoT device assigned, some IoT device may have multiple talkgroups assigned, and other talkgroups may have multiple IoT devices assigned. During operation, an action command is received over a first talkgroup and a first command type is issued to a first IoT device assigned to that talkgroup. A second action command is received over a second talkgroup and a second command type is issued to a second IoT device assigned to the second talkgroup. When determine that multiple radios are issuing action command to the same IoT device through PTT talkgroup, create a new PTT talkgroup to be populated with the multiple radios.

  • Patent number: 10409413
Abstract: A user interface apparatus and method are provided for gloved and non-gloved touch sensitive button actuation. A user interface (100) embodied as a body wearable harness (104) provides a touch button control system having an activation button (120) and functional touch sensitive control buttons (108, 110, 140). The activation button (120) has a capacitive touch element (130) associated therewith that determines gloved or non-gloved operation based on a capacitive measurement taken in response to a finger input to the button. A plurality of control buttons (108, 110, and 140) are automatically assigned increased sensitivity levels in response to detected gloved mode operation in accordance with the measurement. The increased sensitivity levels allow various radio functions to be accessed by a gloved finger input during gloved mode operation with increased reliability. Additional control button identification can be added through the addition of vibrational alerts.

  • Patent number: 10380544
Abstract: Improved incident scene investigation is provided by displaying the incident scene and evidence pertaining to the incident scene on a display of a portable communication device where the display is augmented with tagged evidence attributes and/or further augmented with geofenced safeguard areas surrounding pieces of evidence. The evidence attributes provide and display risk assessment information as to which pieces of evidence at an incident scene are vulnerable to being contaminated or damaged. The evidence attributes may further provide and display an impact factor indicator indicating whether a piece of evidence is likely to be impacted by a context factor from the incident scene. Alerts can be generated at the portable device upon approach to a geofenced safeguarded area surrounding vulnerable evidence. The augmented display of the incident scene can also redirect a user approaching a particular piece of evidence.

  • Publication number: 20190245629
Abstract: A method and apparatus for quickly forming a PAN is describe herein. During operation, a modulated vibration will be received that identifies that network formation is to take place. All devices detecting the vibration will be paired/associated to form a PAN. In one embodiment of the present invention a first device generates the vibration and the subset of available devices will form a PAN with the first device acting as a master device within the formed PAN. In another embodiment of the present invention, a piece of clothing (e.g., a vest) is equipped with a haptic module (vibrating circuitry) to generate the vibration. All pieces of equipment attached to the piece of clothing will receive the vibration and pair accordingly.

  • Patent number: 10319151
Abstract: A device and method for hierarchical object recognition is provided. The device comprises: an augmented reality display device including a camera, a display device, and an eye-tracking device; an input device; a memory storing a hierarchical object recognition library arranged in a plurality of levels; and a controller. The controller receives, using the input device, an indication of a selected level of the hierarchical object recognition library. The controller determines, using the eye-tracking device, an eye-gaze direction. The controller recognizes at least one object in an image from the camera in the eye-gaze direction by comparing at least a region of the image in the eye-gaze direction with the selected level of the hierarchical object recognition library. The controller controls the display device to indicate a recognized object in the eye-gaze direction.

  • Publication number: 20190155385
Abstract: A smart ring (100) provides multi-mode control in a personal area network (PAN). The smart ring has a fingerprint sensor (106) for identifying upon which finger and which finger segment the smart ring is being worn. A controller (902) of the smart ring (100) enables a predetermined PAN device and PAN control function in response to identified finger and finger segment information (1, 2, 3) matching pre-stored fingerprint information. One of the PAN devices is thus selectively enabled and a predetermined function is controlled, based on identification of the finger and finger segment location of the smart ring (100). Several different PAN devices (narrowband radio, body-worn camera, sensors, gun holster, remote speaker microphone, broadband device, to name a few) can be selectively controlled and varied via rotation of the smart ring (100), making the smart ring well suited for public safety applications.

  • Patent number: 10299101
Abstract: A device, system and method for controlling quality of service of communication devices based on a predicted hazard path is provided. From an initial location of a hazard in a building and an electronic representation of the building, a predicted hazard path through the building is determined, as well as geofences, each associated with a respective weight. Geofences that include the predicted hazard path have a higher weight than geofences that exclude the predicted hazard path. Respective network quality of service for communication devices is controlled based on their locations in the building, relative to the geofences, such that a first communication device located in a first geofence that includes the predicted hazard path receives better network quality of service than a second communication device located in a second geofence that excludes the predicted hazard path, the second geofence having a lower weight than the first geofence.

  • Publication number: 20190149959
Abstract: A method of operating a talk group server to control a virtual talk group member. During operation, the talk group server determines an assignment for a virtual talk group member to join a first talk group and communicate on behalf of a talk group member associated with a second talk group. The talk group server obtains user profile associated with the talk group member and causes the virtual talk group member to join the first talk group using the user profile associated with the talk group member. The talk group server then controls the virtual talk group member to perform the assignment by generating audio communications as a function of the user profile associated with the talk group member and transmitting audio communications on the first talk group.
