    Abstract: A method for video coding is provided. A plurality of coding units (CUs) are obtained from a picture. During decoding of a CU coded in a combined inter and intra prediction (CIIP) mode and with luma mapping with chroma scaling (LMCS) enabled, a plurality of reconstructed samples of a luma component are obtained in a mapped domain. The reconstructed samples of the luma component are converted from the mapped domain into an original domain by applying inverse mapping associated with the LMCS to obtain converted samples of the luma component in the original domain. Chroma scaling factors for decoding chroma samples of the CU are derived by using corresponding reconstructed samples of the luma component without clipping.
