Abstract: Embodiments of the present application provide a data transmission method and a terminal device. The method is performed by a first terminal device, and includes performing an Ethernet Header Compression (EHC) process based on EHC configuration information and generating a first data packet; and transmitting the first data packet to a second terminal device. By means of the EHC configuration information, an EHC function between the terminal devices is achieved, and a resource utilization rate during a data transmission between the terminal devices is improved.
