    Abstract: In one aspect, an amorphous alloy comprises Cu, Zr, Be and M. M is at least one element selected from a group consisting of Al, Sn, Si, group IB, group IIB, group IIIB, group IVB, group VB, group VIB, group VIIB and group VIIIB of the element periodic table, provided that the element is not Cu or Zr. In another aspect, an amorphous alloy comprises Cu, Zr, RE and M. RE is at least one element selected from the rare earth elements, M is at least one element selected from a group consisting of Al, Sn, Si, group IB, group IIB, group IIIB, group IVB, group VB, group VIB, group VIIB and group VIIIB of the element periodic table, provided that the element is not Cu, Zr or RE. In yet another aspect, a method for preparing an amorphous alloy comprises melting a raw material comprising Cu, Zr, Be, and M to form an alloy.
