  • Publication number: 20080317230
Abstract: A method allowing a subscriber to use call handling features on a call by call basis defines a plurality of feature profiles, each including a number of call handling features. The method stores the feature profiles either in a customer premises equipment or in a related switch, and activates one of the feature profiles by selecting one of the feature profiles and applying the call handling features in the feature profile to the calls as long as the feature profile is activated.

  • Publication number: 20080208573
Abstract: The present invention relates to methods and apparatuses for speech signal encoding and decoding. In accordance with the invention, a discrete time speech signal is encoded by identifying a speech element in the speech signal. If the speech element is identified for the first time, the encoder (108) creates a unique tag representing the speech element and an associating between the speech element and the unique tag in a memory and transmits the speech element in discrete time form and the tag and an indication that the tag is to represent the speech element to a decoder (118). If the speech element was identified before, the encoder (108) obtains a unique tag representing the speech element from the memory, removes the speech element from the speech signal and transmits the unique tag representing the speech element as obtained from the memory.

  • Publication number: 20080101344
Abstract: In a method for providing redundancy for calls, a calling subscriber generates a first call to a called receiver. An originator is provided, associated to the calling subscriber, and having intelligence of creating at least one additional call associated with the first call. A terminator is provided, associated to the called subscriber, and having intelligence of recognizing the at least one additional call and referencing it to the first call.

  • Publication number: 20070280463
Abstract: Certain exemplary embodiments can utilize a method that can include, making available, to a plurality of potential call service providers, a set of parameters associated with a received call request, and/or transferring said call request to a first potential call service provider of said plurality of potential call service providers.

  • Publication number: 20070274306
Abstract: The present inventions relates to a method for establishing a call in a telecommunications network (100), the telecommunications network (100) comprising first and packet network sections (110, 120), a wide area packet network (130), and a TDM transit network section (140). Subscribers' terminal equipment (112, 122) is addressable by directory numbers, and calls to subscribers are always routed through the TDM transit network (140). During TDM call setup at least one message or information element is conveyed to the second packet network section, the at least one message or information element being indicative of the first terminal equipment's packet capabilities and/or an address of a first controlling device (116, 114A) controlling the call in the first packet network section (110). In the second packet network section (120), said message or information element is received at a second controlling device (126, 124A) controlling the call in the second packet network section (120).

  • Publication number: 20070127436
Abstract: A method and system are provided for converging time division multiplexing (TDM) communication networks and packet based networks. Signaling may be monitored between TDM network elements by a Convergence Resource Manager (CRM) to identify calls that may be re-directed over a packet network to an end node with another associated CRM; the re-directed call bypassing much of the TDM network. Installation of a CRPd typically does not require any configuration changes to the TDM network such as point codes. A self learning CRM may also be provided so that a routing database may be automatically built. An originating SS7 message may be modified by a self learning CRM to add a Tag which identifies the originating node. As the modified message traverses the SS7 network, any other self learning CRMS in the network report to the originating self learning CRM that the message has been seen.

  • Publication number: 20060109967
Abstract: Certain exemplary embodiments comprise a method that can comprise, responsive to a request from a second telecommunications device for a first call between the second telecommunications device and a first telecommunications device, determining one or more signals adapted to cause a second call to be set-up between a virtual subscriber and the second telecommunications device. Certain exemplary embodiments can, via the one or more signals, cause the second call to be set-up between the virtual subscriber and the second telecommunications device.

  • Publication number: 20060036590
Abstract: A multi-media documenter and methods for documenting a communication session among participants is provided so that manual entry of information is minimized. Session information including multi-media information may be captured automatically from participants, when available, through the use of templates. Information may be automatically captured from profiles at communication devices or entered by users. In this way, a record may be captured for communications sessions such as a telephonic call that documents the particulars associated with the session such as participants' names, date, a transcription of the conversation, pictures, video, animation, text and the like.

  • Publication number: 20050105708
Abstract: In a communication network, every subscriber has among all the calls he originates one or more call groups he frequently calls. To avoid repetitive call processing, the network allows for a more efficient call processing using the routing information of a previous call to the same subscriber. This allows a network element such as a switch to use existing routing information for the next same call instead of determining the routing information each time anew. The network and a method implemented therein identify the one or more call groups, store the routing information for these call groups, and use the stored routing information for the next same-call establishment.

  • Publication number: 20040219911
Abstract: Law enforcement regulation of calls in a telecommunications network is provided. A law enforcement application executes commands that effect the law enforcement regulation. A primary rate interface (PRI) coupled to the law enforcement application redirects calls to be regulated by law enforcement regulation. A method for effecting a law enforcement regulation in a telecommunications network provides a law enforcement application is that regulates calls and a primary rate interface (PRI) for redirecting the calls to be regulated by law enforcement regulation. A telephony protocol encapsulates the PRI for transporting signals relating to the call over a packetized network.
