  • Patent number: 7464711
Abstract: A device for a respirator. A tube is operative to be introduced into a trachea of a patient and supply and discharge gas from the patient's lungs. A first conduit connects the tube to the respirator to discharge exhalation gas. A second conduit extends between the tube and a source of sub-pressure. The second conduit is connected to an exhalation tube of the tube. A third conduit connects the tube to the respirator and supplies inhalation gas. In an active position a valve arrangement keeps the second conduit open and connects the exhalation tube to a source of sub-pressure. In an inactive position the valve arrangement keeps the second conduit closed and the first conduit open. A controller moves the valve arrangement from the inactive position to the active position for a period of time to simulate coughing to cause a gas flow to support transport of secretions.

  • Patent number: 7207972
Abstract: A device for fixing a tube member in a cavity of a patient. The device includes a body that surrounds the tube member and has a casing that at least partly forms an inner space. The body is expandable by supplying a fluid to the inner space in such a way that the fluid in the inner space has a working pressure. Furthermore, the body has, in a non-expanded state, a relatively small outer extent, which permits the introduction into said cavity, and in an expanded state, a relatively large outer extend, which permits fixing in said cavity by abutment with a contact pressure against a tubular wall of the cavity. In order to ensure a tight abutment against the wall of the cavity, the body has such a geometrical shape that the contact pressure is substantially constant independent of variations of the working pressure within a normal working range.

  • Patent number: 6634360
Abstract: An integrated tracheal tube/suction ventilation and co-committal secretion removal device having first and second coaxially arranged conduits where the first interior conduit forms a lumen to deliver gas, and a circumferentially arranged second conduit lumen is structurally adapted to serve as an integral suction lumen for removal of both expiratory gases and secretions. The distal end outlets of both lumens terminate between the device's fixing member and its distal end. The two lumen outlets are arranged such that relative to each other and the device the first interior pipe conduit forming lumen's outlet is located at the distal end and the second pipe conduit lumen's outlet is located at or near the distal side of the fixing member. This selection of relative positioning facilitates optimal deliver of breathing gas to a user in conjunction with removal of expiratory gases and secretions.
