  • Publication number: 20210337402
Abstract: A method, performed by a first network node, for handling a maintenance of one or more second network nodes is described herein. The first network node and the one or more second network nodes operate in a communications network. The first network node obtains, respectively, from each of one or more third network nodes operating in the communications network, and for a respective second network node of the one or more second network nodes, one or more predictive models for each of: a) a performance of the respective second network node, and b) a traffic load of the respective second network node. The first network node then determines one or more plans to maintain the one or more second network nodes, based on the obtained one or more predictive models.

  • Patent number: 8981993
Abstract: A method is provided for using an antenna array to create two beams (a first beam and a second beam). In one aspect, the method uses dual polarization beam forming, which allows for many degrees of freedom in designing a desired power pattern. The method is well suited for systems with multiple radio chains (e.g., systems with active antennas). The method is also well suited for multi-port systems such as TD-SCDMA. In some embodiments, the method produces two beams where (a) the shape of the power beam pattern for the first beam and the shape of the power beam pattern for the second beam are the same (or substantially the same) in a plurality of directions of interest and (b) the beams have orthogonal (or substantially orthogonal) polarizations in the coverage area.

  • Patent number: 6697643
Abstract: The present invention is directed to cellular systems and methods for providing a multi-beam antenna configuration within a base station without utilizing duplex filters. The multi-beam antenna configuration of the present invention produces overlaid beams in both the uplink and downlink to cover the same area. Each beam has orthogonally oriented polarization directions (e.g., linear polarized slanted ±45°) for the uplink and downlink. Adjacent uplink beams shall also have shifted polarization directions in order to attain polarization diversity between different beams. In order to implement this polarization configuration, for each beam, there is a selective filter in front of the low noise amplifier for the uplink, and no duplex filter in front of the amplifier in the downlink direction.

  • Patent number: 6577879
Abstract: A telecommunications system and method is disclosed for allowing a base station to simultaneously transmit signals in several beams of a multi-beam antenna configuration. Antenna pattern control is maintained by employing orthogonal polarization orientation for every other beam. For example, the two orthogonal polarization directions can be approximately linear polarization slanted ±45°. To be able to transmit simultaneously in an arbitrary combination of more than one beam, the BS antenna array includes a separate feeder cable for each combination of beams corresponding to a particular polarization, from one feeder per beam to one feeder with all beams of that polarization.

  • Patent number: 6531984
Abstract: A dual-polarized antenna (10) with good isolation between feed ports (13a, 13b) and high similarity with respect to the radiation patterns is provided. An antenna (10) includes a patch (11), four symmetrically arranged feed structures (12a-12d, 15), two feed ports (13, 13b) and a feed network (14). Radiation pattern similarity is obtained by the pair-wise symmetrical, orthogonal layout of the feed structures (12a-12d, 15). Good isolation between feed ports (13a, 13b) is achieved through a feed network (14) divided into two network parts (14a, 14b) where each network part (14a, 14b) is designed so that each coupling between a network part (14a, 14b) and a feed structure (12a12d, 15) belonging to the other polarization is cancelled by a mirrored coupling with the other feed structure (12a-12d, 15) belonging to the polarization. In addition, a network part (14a, 14b) is laid out so that its corresponding feed structures (12a-12d, 15) are fed with supporting signals of equal magnitude.

  • Patent number: 6236364
Abstract: To improve null depths in an antenna pattern of a first polarization, formed with nulls in at least one angular region, a further antenna pattern of a second polarization, substantially orthogonal to the first polarization, is concurrently formed. • Patent number: 6225947
Abstract: An antenna arrangement and a method for obtaining such an antenna arrangement are disclosed. The antenna arrangement utilizes the beam ports of a beam forming network, e.g. a Butler matrix, in connection with a multi-element radiator antenna for obtaining receive/transmit channels having more antenna beams within a desired coverage. At least one extra signal combiner is utilized for combining at least one beam port of a number of ordinary beam ports with a nonadjacent beam port to form one receive/transmit channel in a number of desired receive/transmit channels. The particular receive/transmit channel uses the at least one extra signal combiner for combining at least one of a number of ordinary beam ports with a nonadjacent beam port normally being terminated, for adapting power and sensitivity distributions for a desired cell coverage or for desired coverage of overlapping cells.
