  • Publication number: 20230047780
Abstract: A drug delivery device (100, 200) for delivering a fixed dose, comprising a drive mecha-nism comprising a drive spring (108, 208), and an activation mechanism comprising a connector (170, 270) adapted for activating the drive mechanism, wherein the drug de-livery device further comprises a split-dose-prevention mechanism adapted for limiting the axial movement of the connector during dosing. The split dose prevention mechanism comprises: (i) a split-dose-prevention structure (184, 284.1, 284.2) provided on the drive tube (180, 280) and extending in a circumferential direction, and (ii) a retention portion (178.3, 278.2) provided on the connector. For the drive tube being arranged in the intermediate position, the split-dose-prevention structure (184, 284.1, 284.2) and the retention portion are arranged with a transverse overlap, whereby movement of the connector in the second axial direction is limited by the split-dose prevention structure.

  • Publication number: 20230001101
Abstract: A drug delivery device for sequentially delivering a predefined plurality of fixed doses, wherein the drug delivery device comprises a housing assembly, a drive mechanism comprising a drive tube and adapted to sequentially deliver the predefined plurality of doses, and an activation mechanism for activating the drive mechanism. The drive mechanism further comprises a pre-strained torsional drive spring (108, 208) conserving an initial amount of energy, and adapted for rotating the drive tube, wherein each activation of the drive mechanism, and completion of a drive tube dose sequence reduces the amount of conserved energy in the drive spring, and wherein the initial amount of conserved energy, which is the conserved energy before the first activation, is sufficient to deliver the predefined plurality of fixed doses.

  • Publication number: 20220409820
Abstract: The invention relates to a spring driven multi-use fixed dose injection device with an End-of-Content (EoC) mechanism. A housing structure contains a volume of a liquid drug which is expelled in a predefined number of substantially equally sized dose volumes. Each dose volume is expelled automatically with the assistance of a spring which is loaded with a force sufficient to expel the full number of the predefined plurality of predetermined and equally sized dose volumes. Each dose volume is prepared and released by moving a drive element a predetermined axial distance in the proximal direction away from an initial position, followed by a rotation of the drive element by the force of the spring back to the initial position during which rotation the drive element rotates the piston rod to move helically.

  • Publication number: 20220409821
Abstract: A drug delivery device (100, 200) for delivering a fixed dose, wherein the drug delivery device comprises: a housing assembly, a drug reservoir with a piston and a drive mechanism. The drive mechanism comprises a piston rod (109, 209) for advancing the piston to expel a drug, and a drive tube (180, 280), wherein the drive mechanism is adapted to deliver the predefined fixed dose in response to activation. The drug delivery device further comprises an activation mechanism for activating the drive mechanism, in response to moving the drive tube in an axial direction. The housing assembly comprises a guide structure for guiding the drive tube during activation and delivery of a dose, wherein the guide structure comprises an axial portion (156, 256) providing a sliding surface for guiding the drive tube during activation, and for providing a rotational stop defining an end of dose, and a helical portion (157, 257) providing a sliding surface adapted for guiding the drive tube (180, 280) during dosing.

  • Patent number: 11383041
Abstract: The invention relates to an injection device comprising an End-of-Content mechanism. The End-of-Content mechanism comprises a piston rod (10) being driven forward by a rotatable piston rod guide (20), a driver (50) attached to a dose setting tube (30) and an End-of-Content tube (40). The End-of-Content tube is moved axially forward during dose setting a distance which correlates to the size of the dose being set. When the accumulated set and ejected dose equals the injectable amount initially available in the cartridge (3), the End-of-Content tube engages a lock mechanism provided in the piston rod guide and the driver engages a stop surface on the End-of-Content tube. Once the End-of-Content mechanism is locked, no further dose can be set and the piston rod guide cannot be rotated. In order to provide a proper engagement between the piston rod guide and the driver, the End-of-Content mechanism is released during dose expelling.

  • Patent number: 11052185
Abstract: The present invention concerns a medical injection device for apportioning set doses of a preservative containing liquid drug. The injection device comprises a housing supporting a cartridge containing the preservative containing liquid drug and a needle cannula for transferring the liquid drug from the cartridge and through the skin of a user. Further, a needle shield which is axially movable in relation to the housing is also present. The axially movable shield carries a cleaning reservoir for cleaning at least the tip of the needle cannula between subsequent injections and the cleaning reservoir is preferably filled with preservative containing liquid drug directly from the cartridge upon initiation of the injection device. In order to eliminate any overpressure being built up inside the cleaning reservoir during the filling process, the cleaning reservoir is provided with an outlet configured to be permanently sealed by a user activated operation.

  • Publication number: 20210146060
Abstract: The invention relates to a torsion spring driven injection device for delivering set doses of a liquid drug wherein a torsion spring is strained by rotation of a rotatable dose setting structure and released by proximal movement of a piston rod driver. The dose setting structure is coupled to a drive element which is rotated during dose setting and which drive element is released during dosing to thereby rotate the piston rod driver. The piston rod driver is further coupled to the piston rod to generate a rotation and thus forward movement of the piston rod. The drive element and the piston rod driver are coupled to each other by a toothed engagement which is functional both during dose setting and during dose expelling.

  • Patent number: 10828427
Abstract: The invention relates to an injection system or a needle assembly in which a needle cannula secured to an injection device is shielded by a axially movable needle shield. Should the needle cannula be exposed to a force above a predetermined value e.g. if a user drops the injection device onto a hard surface, a locking mechanism will automatically lock and block further movement of the axially movable needle shield and thus render the injection device unusable.

  • Publication number: 20200297918
Abstract: The invention relates to a medical injection device for injection of a liquid drug. The injection device comprises a housing structure with a cartridge and needle cannula. Further an axially movable cleaning reservoir is provided which is movable in relation to the housing structure, and which cleaning reservoir contains a liquid cleaning agent. The distal tip of the needle cannula is positioned and thus cleaned inside the cleaning reservoir between subsequent injections. According to the invention, the cleaning reservoir connects to an overflow reservoir through a one-way pressure valve such that the cleaning agent and/or air is flowable from the cleaning reservoir and into the overflow reservoir.
