The knife cartridge (25) holds a knife (30), preferably in protected safe position in which the blade (32) of the knife (30) is reliably retained inside the housing (26) of the knife cartridge (25) during non-use, particularly if the knife cartridge (25) is not inserted in the sealing instrument (10).
