  • Patent number: 11221019
Abstract: A centrifugal pump includes a radial impeller surrounded by a housing. The housing has a channel associated with a front side space between a cover of the impeller and the casing. Flow is led through the channel from a pressure region of the pump to a radial gap at a suction region of the pump. The flow in the channel reduces angular momentum and results in an increase in pressure in the front side space which acts of in the cover side of the impeller to offset axial force from a rear side of the impeller.
    Type: Grant
    Filed: December 5, 2017
Date of Patent: January 11, 2022
Assignee: KSB SE & Co. KGaA

  • Patent number: 10393133
Abstract: A flow-conducting component such as a pump impeller is provided. Passages between vanes of the flow-conducting component include notches in the form of transitions between the vane and a common surface, such as a cover disk. The notches include a transition surface having a geometric configuration determined in accordance with a calculated load spectrum along at least a portion of the length of the notch and in accordance with a particular geometric pattern.

    Assignee: KSB Aktiengesellschaft
Inventors: Alexander Boehm, Franz Gerhard Bosbach, Christoph Emde, Ewald Hoelzel, Holger Rauner, Patrick Thome, Bjoern Will
  • Patent number: 10330132
Abstract: A method for geometrically designing a flow-conducting component, and a corresponding flow-conducting component, are provided. The flow-conducting includes a flow direction-changing surface arranged to change the direction of a flow by a certain angle from an inflow direction in a first section to an outflow direction in a second section, the flow direction-changing surface being formed corresponding to a contour of line segments having formed based on dependent triangulation between a bisector of the certain angle and sides of the first and/or second sections.

    Assignee: KSB Aktiengesellschaft
